listening to ogg with a Mac
hi, I'm not a Mac user, thus, my question is: What is the best way to listen to .ogg files with a Mac? In both Mac 9 and MacOS X. ta, b. -- Nullum magnum ingenium sine mixtura dementiae fuit - Seneca (there is no great genuis without madmess) --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ icecast project homepage: http://www.icecast.org/ To unsubscribe from this

CBC radio's science show archives Ogg
Earlier today while listening to CBC radio's national science show "Quirks and Quarks", I was pleasantly surprised to hear that their audio archives are now offered in Ogg, in addition to mp3 and real. This is the first CBC show that I am aware of that offers their archives in formats other than the usual real/wma/qt. For those who don't know, CBC is Canada's only

a few questions about relaying
Hi there list, I have a few questions here. First of all, can I relay an mp3 shoutcast relay even though I am using ices2 for the ogg format? Secondly, if the first question is a yes how would I set my server to be used for dialup streams. In other words I would have to decrease the bit rate to accomodate the dial up users. Could this be done with out causing any hard ships to what I already

Ices 2.0 beta3
This is to announce the release of ices 2.0 beta 3. The source client for streaming Ogg Vorbis to Icecast 2. After far too much time having passed since beta 2, where many fixes and updates have been applied, it's time to push for a full 2.0 release. This beta is really to flush out any remaining issues, so no new functionality is to be added until after the 2.0 release. Download from

parsing icecast 1 and icecast2 logs in GUI web format
I know this was mentioned some time back, but I am curious if anyone has had any further success with this. My radio station is looking for a nice clean comprehensive overview of all connections to our icecast 1 and 2 servers. Someone had tweaked the webalizer program to render all the stats in a nice GUI format. However, there were still a couple items missing. Just wondering what everyone else

using the latest icecast and ices to stream both ogg and mp3
So basically, I download and install ices 0.3, fire it up as well and then using the currently running icecast server, just set a new mountpoint. Instead of /ksl.ogg I would make a /ksl.mp3 mountpoint. This would be configured in the configuration file included with ices 0.3? I am only doing live streaming, feeding a raw audio feed into the box, and then encoding it on the fly. Thanks much. KJ

libshout compile problems
hehe... i don't think it's that difficult to guess ;) we just want to successfully compile the actual snapshot of libshout. As I had said before, I haven't tried to compile the latest version yet, but the previous versions gave me the same errors when trying to compile them. boink wrote: >it's a little difficult for us to read minds. > >What do you *exactly* want to

dare to compare -- live streams: ogg/WMA
hello all! After having read http://www.xiph.org/ogg/vorbis/listen.html and listened to the examples on that very educational page, I decided to augment the info. This example is more simple, it involves the comparision between two streams of the same radio station, FranceInter (a station of Radio France in Paris). The ogg stream is running at around 30 kbps/11 kHz in stereo. The WMA stream

Radio france in ogg

Just my opinion but I've found streaming with quality -1 22khz Mono produces the best sound quality for 32kb/s. 11khz stereo sounds like crap in comparison. I'm just waiting (impatiently) for OddCastDSP(v1) to support 22050 mono via the SQRSoft crossfader. If

dare to compare -- live streams: ogg/WMA
hello, I like your point here .. it's difficult to make such a comparision, since yacast.fr choosed to stream like that. Why did they choose to stream like that? That's beyond me, since Radio France has a budjet of millions. The point of this comparision was to show why is Radio France doing and paying for something like this? Me, with cheap computers which were had no more value (well,
