Disconnecting relay when no clients connected / Conserving bandwidth
Hello,
I'm running an Icecast relay in my office. Is there any plans to provide the
ability to disconnect from the master server when there are no clients
connected to my relay? The main reason is to conserve bandwidth when no one is
connected.
I looked a bit at the code as to how to implement this, but was wondering if
anyone else might be working on it.
Thanks,
Viraj.

could not create listener socket on port 8000
greetings!
when i try to start the icecast server i get the
following error:
Could not create listener socket on port 8000
Server startup failed. Exiting.
I did make sure that iptables has port 8000 open for
tcp.
Any suggestions for troubleshooting? Thanks.

.conf for 2nd streem
I'm pretty sure it was in the default ices.conf, but I guess I deleted it.
How do I setup a 2nd stream? The first plays at 24k, I want same audio for a box on the local lan, so bandwidth is not an issue;
so either don't decode/reencode or re-encode at 300+K, or whatever the highest is.

m3u - file definition
Hello
is there any documentation on the .m3u file definition ?
I want to define a .m3u playlist where I have to define the start and
end point of the single mp3 file.
The .m3u files is supposed to handle multiple tracks from one file.
Just with put a tab, start time (seconds), tab, end time (seconds) after
the path to
mark where it starts and ends in the file.

Windows client
Correct me if I'm wrong, but one thing still lacking in the Windows environment is software which can feed ogg files directly to IceCast2 without encoding. This would be very handy for me right now. Anyone working on anything? An Ices2 for Windows would be ideal.

Re-2: streaming MP3s?
I'm using icecast-2.0-alpha-2 and ices-2.0-Beta2.
When I put the .mp3 file in my webroot and start laying it via winamp/location/<filename>.mp3 it works fine, just when I try using the playlist via ices I get a 404.

Where would you find out who's in charge of this in the country you're
in (other than just doing it and waiting for letters from lawyers ;) ).
Thanks

Re: iscsi with gluster i want to make it
Hi Viraj,
Gluster Ver. 3.x supports replication over WAN but currently very
limited. I assume it will expand as time moves on.
As for ISCSI. I doubt Glusterfs will ever support ISCSI. ISCSI
operates at the block level. Gluster only works on the filesystem
level. The only way to have iscsi on Gluster would be to export an
iscsi target that is a file on gluster.

strange noise from icecast
Hello,
I'm using icecast for at least 3 months now and I am experiencing a strange noise and also some echo effect (from time to time) and I can't identify the source of this noise. I tryed almost everything, from TCP fragment reassembling to cheking my hardware. I just have no more ideas what to check.
The streams can be found here:

streaming MP3s?
Ok, icecast is up and running, but only ogg-files.
Any way to stream MP3s?
I got my whole CD-Collection as MP3s and am just to lazy to convert the whole stuff.

encrypted passwords in Icecast 2
hello !
I've just installed the debian package icecast2 (I have the icecast 1.3.12
before) and I have a doubt about the passwords. In the icecast 1.3.* we
should use the mkpasswd for our pass and put the crypted output to
icecast.conf file.
Isn't possible in the icecast.xml file?? (perhaps is not necessaty, I
don't know). If this is so, can I change the permissions to this file to

Directory listing disappeared
Hi:
Last week, I upgraded an icecast2 server and enabled the directory code.
The primary streams that run on it showed up nicely. As some may recall, I
had issues with libshout compiling (seems the sources got hosed somehow, a
fresh checkout fixed everything after all else failed), and I just compiled
the latest ices2. I noticed, with some surprise, that the config file
hadn't changed in

Icecast and Liveice
you need to create a .m3u file to launch the media player. In this file you should have
'protocol://url:port#/mountpoint'
ex:
in my 'ices.m3u' I have:
http://stream.goingcreative.net:8000/houze
<p>Once you are done point your browser to the .m3u file to launch your media player
