It's the latest version I could find of ices0, that is - 0.2.3, with mp3 support. The patch I've done is not a patch for the real error, it justs forces ices

Ices 0.x is still developed. So is ices2. They're independent codebases with substantially different capabilities and users. Yes, in retrospect naming it ices2 was a poor

My tracks are all in mp3 format. i reencode from 128/96 kbs and 44100Hz => 16kbs and 11kHz ( mp3 ) Is it possible , ( if yes tell me how ) to feed icecast with both mp3 and ogg stream , at different mount points . how to configure ices to play ogg ? i know i'll have to

ices2 routinely abandons one of its streams
Hi everybody, I'm in charge of an ices2 setup that's broadcasting a local radio station on the Net, and I'm currently under fire because one of our streams has been down twice in two days, forcing me to restart ices2 on each occasion. Our client is understandably unhappy about this. OUR SETUP: I've got ices2 installed on a local machine, broadcasting to an icecast server across

Try the ices version at http://xiph.org/~brendan/snapshots/ices You'll need the libshout 2 beta to build it: http://xiph.org/~brendan/beta I'm sure you'll find the MP3 header parsing a lot better in the snapshot. I expect to release ices 0.3 simultaneously with libshout 2.0 in the next few days, so any bug reports will be very welcome. -b On Wednesday, 09 July 2003 at 16:05, Rolf

OT: OGG in the mainstream
There is a big, big difference between cbr and vbr, btw. The machine in question is a Pentium 3 700 oc'ed to 800, 512MB ram, win nt 5.1 (2k and xp being nt) etc In an earlier version the oddcast dsp ate up so much cpu time when set at say 64kbps (for examples sake) 44.1kHz, stereo that the machine became totally unusable and the winamp task had to be (slowly) ended with task manager. Now,

Playlist containing both MP3 and OGG
Hello, I have both MP3 and OGG in my hard drive, since I used to use MP3 encoding and now I'm trying to move to OGG vorbis. I am wondering if there's a way to stream a playlist containing both MP3 and OGG files. As far as I understand from reading the doc, Ices-0.4 and Ices2 can only stream MP3 and OGG files respectively. So I just installed both. But is there a trick or something

Thanks Karl, I will give it a try. Do I have to install your modified libshout or isn't it required if I am live streaming? OGG streaming and Icecast2
Hi All, I recently just took the time to play with the OGG format and compare it to mp3..and my conclusion is: SWEEEEET Where can I learn about writing a source for Icecast2? I written sources for Shoutcast..that was pretty straight forward..rip through an mp3 file and send the bytes to shoutcast at specific intervals. OGG is VBR...so I'm having trouble wrappign my head around how I shoudl

Icecast 2 questions.
Hi all, I just built icecast 2 from cvs. I tried to compile ices (also from cvs) and got: tream.c: In function `ices_instance_stream': stream.c:164: warning: passing arg 1 of `shout_strerror' makes pointer from integer without a cast stream.c:164: too few arguments to function `shout_strerror' stream.c:198: warning: passing arg 1 of `shout_strerror' makes pointer from integer

IceCast and ICES
I?ve successfully implemented IceCast on a Raspberry Pi and can access the stream ONLY if I use an ffmpeg statement to start the stream. Unfortunately, the stream is choppy and the sound quality is poor. I?ve tried using ICES, but I don?t get any sound. Terminal command that works: ffmpeg -ac 2 -f alsa -i hw:0,0 -acodec mp3 -ab 48k -ac 2 -content_type audio/mpeg -f mp3 icecast://source:password

It's a question of getting the compiler environment setup to do the port. Much of libshout and ices2 are ready but, certain things like live input are different from whats in windows. karl.
