Virgin Radio now on ices2 - yp not working though
This afternoon I've transferred our Ogg Vorbis Icecast2 streams from darkice to the ices2 encoder. Apologies if you were trying to listen; I had to stop and start the streams a few times. They should be stable now as I'm off down the pub now! As a reminder, the URL for the streams is at http://www.virginradio.co.uk/thestation/listen/ogg.html. Ices2 takes slightly different parameters to

Virgin Radio Classic Rock now in Ogg too
Firstly, please excuse the crosspost to both the icecast and vorbis lists, and the slightly commercial nature of this post. Virgin Radio Classic Rock, which is a sister station to Virgin Radio, is now also available in streaming Ogg Vorbis. We also have 'now playing' information working on both services. New YP listing code in icecast2
I have just committed this code to CVS, and here is more information about it for those interested : - the spec that I went off of for the protocol can be found here -> http://www.oddsock.org/icecast2yp/spec.html - since icecast2 now needs to potentially connect out to yp servers for communication, libcurl has been added as a dependency...I used curl 7.9.8... - I also have currently

Clustering on the YP
In case anyone is interested, the YP I run now supports clustering of servers. The clustering is based off "Server Name" + "Listing IP"....currently, clustering of relays from multiple machines are not supported (unless they appear to be coming from the same IP)...This means if you are running multiple mountpoints on the same server, and your server name is the same for

icecast 1.3 or 2 ??? (plus YP stuff)
The mp3 streaming is actually pretty good in icecast2, even the metadata enhancements..I've done quite a bit of testing with it, and it's passed all my tests..although my tests were not completely thorough, and additional testing should be done on laggy networks and with large number of users...it at least passes the "good network and small number of users tests"...

YP Directories?
Hello all. I am new to this list and have joined so I can get news about icecast since I, surprise surprise, have my own icecast server running. I want to know if any of you have a good list of yp directories that will accept yp submissions from a public server. If you know of any that I don't, please feel free to e-mail me with more. Here's what I have come across so far:

New Ogg Vorbis streams
It might be interesting for this list to know that we've never had more positive feedback for anything we've done on the website than the amount of nice feedback we've got since introducing our Ogg streams. Readers of this list might like to know that we've just launched another two stations onto the excellent Ogg Vorbis platform. Again, we'd ask for your help in publicising

Clustering on the YP
Nice work, yeah. But wasn't there some plan already in the standard-docs to use Servername + "cluster password" for listing a cluster of servers? Well okay, but maybe this requires an addition to icecast2 :-) <p>Thank you for the good work Stefan On 26 Jun 2003 at 19:28, oddsock wrote: > In case anyone is interested, the YP I run now supports clustering of >

I hope so :) I'm not too good with C or anything like that, so the sourcecode would probably be a bit confusing.

yp dir
Hi All, Maybe a strange question, is there any info or maybe even an template for setting up an yp directory! The idea to set one up for local purpuses like: espescially dutch languages would be nice! Maybe an extra setting in the stream clients to also give in the language and maybe even country of orgin of the content could be any help with that, could be a nice extra search option too for

Virgin Radio launches an Ogg stream
Apologies if this is a bit of a commercial post (I've not been lurking long), but you might like to know that the world's most listened-to online radio station has just launched an Ogg stream. (As of today!) http://www.virginradio.co.uk/thestation/listen/ogg.html (or alternatively www.virginradio.co.uk/thestation/listen from a non MSIE+PC browser). Any ideas you have to help promote this

New YP listing code in icecast2

But I have a few wonderings: I'm suprised that the HTTP/GET method of notifying YP servers is still preferred. According to this protocol, we're still limited to essentially title/author, listeners, etc. In other words, we're

How do I list in YP? icecast2 ices0
it was fixed a long time ago actually. The current YP is now benefitting from the changes made by me (with help from Karl), and yet despite the requests from both Karl and I recommending that these streams be allowed again, it falls on deaf ears. Ultimately it's up to Xiph to decide, although I was hoping that when the objection "it performs badly so we turned off all non-vorbis
