AW: Ices 2.0 - make error
I see that libxml1-1.8.17 and libxml-2.5.10 are installed. is this perhaps the problem? But so what it looks like i also can forget it trying to install ices2 for live streaming 'cause OpenBSD makes problems. argl, i think i can give up livestreaming with OpenBSD. <p>-----Ursprüngliche Nachricht----- Von: owner-icecast@xiph.org [mailto:owner-icecast@xiph.org] Im Auftrag von Geoff

Icecast and Ices2 manual pages
Hello everyone, In the process of packaging Icecast and Ices2 for Debian, it was necessary for me to write a set of minimal manual pages to satisfy policy requirements. Since I would be adding them to CVS as part of the debian/ directories anyway, I thought I would present them here, so they could perhaps be integrated with the other forms of packaging. They are very simple but perhaps someone

stupid user tricks with ices2: "No such file or directory" :P
Michael and Karl, Thanks for your replies. Sorry for confusing you with bad test info. The contents of playlist.txtthat I referred to in my earlier email did not match the log result I specified. However, I had ran the test with both a full and relative path in playlist.txt; "/home/john/Visitors.ogg" and "Visitors.ogg". Got it working, however. Tried playing a different ogg

ices2 + pid-file (was: ices2 + stdin + metadata)
Ok, so i have to know the PID of ices to send the update-signal. I've added this to my ices.xml: <pidfile>/home/www/bin/ices.pid</pidfile> (directly under the node <ices>) I thought i've seen this somewhere in the manual. However, when i start ices, no pid-file is created :-/ Is this the right way? <p>----- Original Message ----- From: "Karl Heyes"

ices2 + stdin + metadata
Hi, does anybody know some info about posting metadata to ices2 via stdin? My system is based on a PHP-script wich sends PCM-data from the player (mpg123 or ogg123) over a pipe to ices2. As i understand the documentation, metadata is sent as normal clear text within the PCM-data when using stdin. I tried the following format: \n artist=foo\n title=bar\n (\n is, of course, a normal

Never had a problem since. setting <logsize> will cause an automatic log rotation when a certain file size has been reached. It renames <logfile> to <logfile>.1 then opens a new file <logfile> karl.

stupid user tricks with ices2: "No such file or directory" :P
I must be doing something really stupid. I've read the docs for icecast2 and ices2. Icecast2 is running fine; I can get stats.xml and see that it is running. When I run ices2, I get the following error in ices.log: ... ices2 memory leak on Debian/ARM
Hi all.. I'm having a memory leak issue with Ices2 (using package 2.0.1-8 from Debian stable on arm platform).. I've tried turning off metadata, modifying samplerate, and some other misc. things that haven't helped. Eventually, during a stream, ices2 will invoke oom-killer and bring the whole system down. It eats about 0.05MB/Sec of memory, so it takes a while, but this plug has

ices2 realplayer
I'm rebroadcasting a realplayer stream and there are two problems. The icecast2 sounds tinny and its delayed something like 3secs. Any advice to perhaps use speex as it's talk radio? Can I cut the delay? Here is my ices2 config: http://static.natalian.org/2006-06-21/ices-alsa.xml Here is details of the feed, so you can take a listen:

low bandwidth broadcasting using ices2
Is there any way to bring the bitrate in ices2 down below 32 kbps? I'm setting up a demo for someone of how to use linux to do net radio broadcasting. The setup I'm thinking of is to use ardour plus jack to mix two (maybe more) input sources (live audio and recorded tracks/programmes), then send the mixed audio to ices2 for streaming to icecast2, using the jackified version of ices2.
