Problem with streaming some mp3s (but not all)

Problem with streaming some mp3s (but not all)
Hi! I would really appreciate if someone could try to help me out with this... i've been struggling with it for quite a while now. :( Anyway, I was trying to use ices to broadcast mp3s with icecast2 (a recent cvs snapshot of all 3 components from brendan's site). I have it working fine for some of my mp3s (encoded with lame -b 32) but with the other mp3s which are actually the ones that

flac problems (update)
Sorry, turns out I was out of disk space and thats why I ws having the second problem (where it stopped decoding at 11%). Also, it turns out I was forgetting to use -c for piping the output. I still have the first problem though (flac adding 12 "00" bytes to the beginning of the decoded file when the original input to create the flac was a raw file), and would realy appreciate help. :)

ices and VBR mp3s?
I posted a while back about having trouble with ices 0.2.2 being able to re-encode VBR mp3s, and the response was that ices 0.2.2 did not reencode VBR mp3s. Are there any plans to include such support in future ices versions? If so, any ideas as to when such versions would become available? Thanks, -- "Shall life renew these bodies of a truth? problems with flac
Hello, I am having some problems with flac. I remember using an older version a year or so ago and I don't remember having any problems. 1.) When I encode a raw file and then decode it to raw, it seems to add 12 bytes of nulls (this may not always be just nulls, i have only tested on one file and it starts with nulls anyway) 2.) When I try to encode a WAV and then decode it, it fails at

Segfaults on K7
I'm running your debian packages on a K7 currently. They seem to be working fine, including the xmms-flac package. I seem to be experiencing the same flac decoding problems (state=6:FLAC__FILE_DECODER_STREAM_ERROR) as Pritpaul Mahal, however. I'll see if I can reproduce these. It could just be a problem with my old FLAC files (from 0.9 and before). This K7 doesn't segfault on flac

Call for testing: libshout 2.0 beta 2
Hi all, I've just released beta 2 of libshout 2.0, the icecast 2 compatible streaming library. http://xiph.org/~brendan/beta/libshout-2.0b2.tar.gz Libshout 2.0 adds support for icecast 2, Ogg streaming, and IPv6. Ogg and Vorbis are now prerequisites. Changes since beta 1: * lots and lots of autoconf. Thanks to Karl Heyes for his help here. * a fix for unusual MP3 bitrates contributed by

Newbie Problem
Hi all! I just finished an install of icecast/iceS but I'm having problems. I followed the documentation provided here: http://melmoth.dyndns.org/stream/doc/ to the letter and this is the problem I'm having: Everything seems to function (icecast runs, iceS runs) and it generates messages such as: [root@icecast stream]# bin/ices conf/ices-playlist.xml [2003-06-04 06:43:17] INFO

streaming MP3s?
Ok, icecast is up and running, but only ogg-files. Any way to stream MP3s? I got my whole CD-Collection as MP3s and am just to lazy to convert the whole stuff. <p>--- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ icecast project homepage: http://www.icecast.org/ To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to 'icecast-request@xiph.org' containing only the word

no mp3s with ices2!? an other way?
You "should" be able to use mp3s with ices. But not with ices2-2.x. You have to grab ices-0.2.3 from the snapshots. The earlier versions of ices-0.2.3 containted mp3-support but were not capable of streaming to an icecast2-server (only icecast). The current builds support both features. But from testing myself and from the list I recall there have been some problems: Ices connected

no mp3s with ices2!? an other way?
I have mp3s as input and can't convert them all. And since my listeners will ONLY use mp3-streaming I don't want the overhead and quality-loss of converting mp3 to ogg and later stream-transcode them from ogg back to mp3. That's not worth it. So why can't support for mp3 be added to ices2? From a technical point, I mean? Somebody said "It's not and never will
