oddcast plugin behaviors
hi oddsock,
Your oddcast plugin is very good, currently is able to connect to
icecast, icecast2 and shotcast servers; that's way is very usefull.
Well, I know you know all that... :-)
But I have some problems with it:
<p>1-The plugin always try to attach to winamp, so when winamp is
minimized or moved, oddcast's window does it too. At this point, all
ok.
What about if the plugin

icecast2 password bug?
Thanx to you, my friend!
2:59am - Finally my oddcast get connected with icecast2!
Your solution worked ok.
I set <mount-username> "source" and password the same as in
<authentication><source-password>
But...came to life another little problem:
When I say to oddcast plugin that send mp3 data instead ogg, it seems
to work ok but winamp clients are not able to listen

icecast2 password bug?
there is quite a bit of confusion regarding this bit....
as of a few weeks ago, new funtionality was added to icecast2 to support
mountpoint-level authentication. This means that you can now configure
icecast2 to have a different encoder username and password for each
mountpoint that you specify in your config file. These options are
optional however, most people probably don't need any

icecast2 password bug?
Hello people,
I'm trying the Icecast2 for win32 (release 02-26-2003).
Currently my (mp3/ogg) source data for the server is a winamp running
the oddcast plugin.
I can't connect to icecast2 server using odd_cast plugin. Actually it
connects ok, but just after winamp start to play, it is disconnected
from server.
The server log say: attempted to login with invalid or missing password

How to complie Icecast2 on Win32
Ok. Now it will run. But when i try to play back my stream(either
ogg/vorbis or mp3) it sounds like the chipmunks. Could it be that I'm
broadcasting at a sample rate of 22050 in mono? This shouldn't make a
difference as the source is also 22050 samplerate and mono(its the
line-in plugin for winamp). I'm using Winamp 2.81 with the is the
Oddcast DSP for Winamp 2.xx plugin to

icecast2 password bug?
There is a recent thread on the Oddcast forum regarding this problem.
Checkout the last message.

I had the same problem the other day when testing IceCast2 for the first
time. I haven't had a chance to test the solution so perhaps you can
let me know if it solves the problem.

Winamp v5.22 / oddcast / aac+
I believe that Oddsock is using a Content Type of aacp.
Using a .aac extension with this Content Type may present a conflict.
This might actually be by design.
I will do some further testing with Winamp and report here tomorrow.
I will also double-check with the developer of Winamp for complete
clarification.
FYI, Orban Opticodec-PC allows the use of either Content Type of aac
or aacp. aac is

How to complie Icecast2 on Win32
if you are reading from line in, then use 44100/Stereo, Oddcast (pre
oddcastv2) has issues with converting 22/mono to 22/mono....basically, all
is good if you have 44kHz input (I think mono or stereo works)...

Double-speed mp3 streams
Hi Folks,
I've been experiencing odd behavior lately. When I start a stream it
sometimes begins to stream at double the speed of what I'm sending it.
Stopping and restarting the stream usually solves the problem, but not
always. Stopping and restarting the server doesn't have any effect.
I was using Oddcast 3 standalone as the streaming client, and I thought
there may be a problem

Wav -> Ogg = Chipmunks
I'm creating an ogg\vorbis encoder/decoder that takes pcm wav data and
encodes it to ogg on the fly. It works fine but only if I use sample
rate 44100, bit rate 48000, and 2 channels. I need to be able to use
just 1 channel but when I do that it comes out sounding like
chipmunks.
I've been searching around and looking at other peoples examples but
can't see what I'm doing wrong.

Oddcast not working with WinAmp 5.01
I recently reformatted & reinstalled Windows98. Oddly, only now after a
fresh re-install has Oddcast been behaving badly with WinAmp 5.01.
It shows up in the DSP catagory as a mirror of the previous plugin, plus
"[dsp_oddcast_v2.dll]". I know Oddcast isn't configurable by the WinAmp
Configure Plugin button, but it shouldn't give this message when I try:

Oddcast not working with WinAmp 5.01
Does Oddcast have any Windows98 dependancies that I might be missing after
doing a reformat?
Can't think of what else might be wrong... =(

Winamp v5.22 / oddcast / aac+
Ok, it's not as bad as I thought. With some investigation and
discussion with a "Major Dude" in the Winamp forums, it appears to be a
bug in Winamp v5.22 with streams that end with the mountpoint extension
.aac. I changed the mountpoint to end with .aacp and now it works fine.

Ross.

Oddcast suggestion
This kind of behavior (on demand live streaming) is not supported by either
oddcast or icecast2, and honestly, really shouldn't be...In your situation,
I'd consider doing something closer to what live365 did back in the day to
address this particular issue, which is store all their content locally on
their servers, and basically build playlists that are customed for each user.

Something else, Greg. Are you aware of any 3G / 2.5G (EDGE) clients for
mobile phones that support AAC+ streaming? Be it java or symbian based.
Thanks

Icecast winamp oddcast mountpoint problem?
>Using stream transcoder (also an oddsock tool) instead of multiple instances
of oddcast DSP might help.
Hmm, there is another problem. From this transcoder I can't choose my input device. I have 2 sound cards. First one is making an mp3 archive from audio source and the other one is/will be used for broadcasting.
