SXSW.com fun
We finally got icecast/ices streaming audio for 6 venues in Austin here for SXSW. We are streaming wirelessly and that gave us a fit at the outset. Anyway, the url is http://sxsw.com/music/livestreams Thanks to all the developers and the Vorbis Communiy -- Michael H. Streaming from South by Southwest
Hi: I read the following at http://www.vorbis.com/ot/20040209.html#xiph-org-at-sxsw In addition, SXSW will once again stream over 100 live performances in Ogg Vorbis with Icecast 2 for those who can't attend the festival. Some of the Xiph team will assist in this project where simultaneous streams will be sent from 10 stages through 4 days of the event. Is there anywhere I can

OT: SXSW Music Fest Live via Ices/Icecast
Michael Collins and I have worked our asses off in an attempt to broadcast live Vorbis from the SXSW 2003 Music Festival this week. We're using a large wifi network to pull the audio from several clubs over to the convention center where we have an Xserve running Gentoo serving up the Icecast streams. Despite the lack of docs, we've had no problem with Ices and Icecast from CVS. The

Camping is a winner at SXSW-i
Last night, a little Camping application I wrote called MetaNotes<http://www.metanotes.com/>won the Experimental division in the SXSW Web Awards<http://2008.sxsw.com/interactive/web_awards/finalists/> . MetaNotes is a site that lets you (and many other people) simultaneously place colorful post-it notes on a wide canvas. If you get lucky, you may see notes move in the background as

icecast2 transcode?
I've got a dilema. For months, I've been planning and implementing a large project involving vorbis, ices2, icecast2 and wifi networking. The plan is to stream live audio from 10 Austin nightclubs during the SXSW music festival this March. Well yesterday, it was made plain to me that I must also provide mp3 streams, since "it's an mp3 world." I'm upset about this

low bitrate sounding better? (20k-30k)
At SxSW I ran into the Xiph gang and someone said something in passing that the new version of Ogg Vorbis would have much-improved low-bitrate quality. Wondering - true? Details? ETA? At CD Baby all lo-fi soundclips are still in the SFERA format*. At 20k bitrates, they sound GREAT which is why I stick with it, but I'd much rather switch them ALL over to OGG if there was a way to make

Legal issues
Greetings! I've been asked to set-up an Icecast stream / live webcam for a small club, and I'm worried about what kind of payments the owner would have to make to stream the club's music over the internet. I found this article: <http://www.copyright.gov/carp/webcasting_rates_final.html> but I still don't know what to make of it. Would we have to pay $0.07 per song the DJ

icecast2 per-mount overall listening statistics
Hi there! I don't know, if there have already been such a question, so that it is... I have icecast2 and 7 livestreams on it (by some reasons 6 darkices' mp3 and 1 ices2's ogg). By the given order I need to summarize the time each mount is listened for (for example, /mount1 is being listened by 3 listeners for 3 hours, than by 2 listeners for 1 hour and then by 1 listener for 2

YP submission / cURL issue. (icecast 2.0.1 / gentoo)
I've yet to assemble a valid crash-procedure to consistently re-produce the issue. AFAIK, whats causing it is possibly CPU-utilization issues with my chaining of processing/DSP, what do y'all think?! -- My encoder setup: Winamp `[DSP] -> SoundSolution (dynamic sonic enhancement) `[Output] -> SqrSoft Crossfading (only ''REAL'' crossfader) `[SqrSoft DSP

YP submission / cURL issue. (icecast 2.0.1 / gentoo)
Hello All: I'm having troubles getting my YP submissions to go up correctly, unfortunately there's not much I've been able to find. I'm getting NACK back from the yp_add call, I've tried two different versions of cURL/libcURL on my gentoo box to see if it was that, no luck. I've also replicated the problem onto another gentoo box of mine and the exact same NACK/no

I remember working with a company called clubcastlive.com who were essentially doing the same thing - always wondered what happened to them - I guess as an internet company they went out of business. Hi: Just to add that most, if not all, that ices does can already be done using other Windows tools. You can stream a playlist unencoded with Ezstream. You can stream raw soundcard input with streamTranscoder. And you can do all that and more with the various Oddcast plugins. Hey Campers, Here''s a tiny little app I wrote shortly after SXSW this year. http://learning.kicks-ass.org/ Click on the big red *RANDOM* button for some mild amusement. The idea came from Heath Row over a dinner conversation as chronicled here: http://h3athrow.blogspot.com/2008/03/learning-kicks.html The source code is here: http://github.com/beppu/learning/tree/master
