ices 0.3 released
I've just released ices 0.3: http://icecast.org/files/ices/ices-0.3.tar.gz ices 0.3 is an encoder for icecast-compatible servers (including icecast 2, icecast 1 and shoutcast). It requires libshout 2.0. ices 0.3 outputs MP3, not Vorbis. For Vorbis you will need ices 2. We know this is confusing, so ices 0.x will probably have a new name for the next release. Ideas? Changes since ices

Using icecast2 with MP3 problems
I've downloaded and compiled icecast from cvs and the ices-0.2.3 from the download area for MP3 support.. (I'd use ogg, except I have 1000's of mp3. I'll re-rip them, but not today) 8) Is there a particular version of the icecast2 server that works w/ the ices-0.2.3 I'm using? I'm having difficulty getting the two to communicate. >From ices, I get the errors: Error

streaming both mp3 and ogg
hi all I use ices0.2.3/icecast1.3.12 on a linux box. I stream mp3 . I would like to make my listeners to discover ogg . My tracks are all in mp3 format. i reencode from 128/96 kbs and 44100Hz => 16kbs and 11kHz ( mp3 ) Is it possible , ( if yes tell me how ) to feed icecast with both mp3 and ogg stream , at different mount points . how to configure ices to play ogg ? i know i'll have to

Mount failed - icecast2 with ices
Ok so I finally realized that you need icecast2 for ogg streaming to work and got the latest version of ices-0.2 installed. I am now unable to ever stream a friggin mp3 never mind an ogg file. The server is up (icecast2) and I see it in the web browser, when I try to run ices-0.2 I get the following errror. I am running ices-0.2 as root and icecast2 as richard (might that be the problemo?) stupid question
Here's a stupid question: Do icecast/ices 2 ONLY support vorbis, or can they still handle mp3s? I am not ready to stream only vorbis yet, since I don't know how many people are equipped to hear them. If icecast/ices 2 don't support mp3, then I have some hacking to do on ices 1 (namely, I want to play the same stream at two bitrates concurrently), but if icecast/ices 2 do, then

IceCast and ICES
I?ve successfully implemented IceCast on a Raspberry Pi and can access the stream ONLY if I use an ffmpeg statement to start the stream. Unfortunately, the stream is choppy and the sound quality is poor. I?ve tried using ICES, but I don?t get any sound. Terminal command that works: ffmpeg -ac 2 -f alsa -i hw:0,0 -acodec mp3 -ab 48k -ac 2 -content_type audio/mpeg -f mp3 icecast://source:password

Streaming MP3 and OGG with one Ices
Hello. I understand that ices 0.3 is capable of streaming mp3 to an Icecast 2 server, and that ices 2 is capable of streaming ogg to an Icecast 2 server, but what I'm really after is a single version of ices that can stream mp3 and ogg to an Icecast 2 server. Does such a thing exist? Currently 90% of my audio files are mp3, but I am starting to use ogg instead for new files. However as it

automating icecast2 startups
Hey Rado, Ack... Yep, I'll give that a shot. Can't just shut down the streams at any given time. This may have to wait for testing. The friend I am helping set this up has decided the quality of Ogg Vorbis FAR outweighs the benefits and performance of MP3. Plus, there are the licensing issues involved with MP3. Any ideas on how to do set up a dual stream, one for low bandwidth users and

Simple source on Debian
Hi there. Thanks for the tip about Ices2. Do you know if it's possible to make it work with mp3 files? I only ask because there are several people who stream using my server, and they use mp3. I'm trying to create fallback streams, but in order for that to work, I'd have to get them to switch to ogg or find a way to make Ices work with mp3. Thanks On 6/9/15, Jos? Luis Artuch

automating icecast2 startups
I have icecast2 running on several machines now and have gotten relaying to work just fine. I've posted my instructions on how to do this to my icecast docs site. I have just a few more questions. Perhaps some one on this list has already addressed these issues but has simply not posted these elsewhere. 1) I'm looking for a startup script for launching the icecast2 icecast ices binaries
