Hello Everyone,
I have a bit of a problem trying to set up Icecast2 + Ice2, on my debian
box, I installed icecast2 ver 2.3.2-6 and ices2 2.0.1-8. I'm able to
start icecast2 as shown in the logs:

NEWBIE QUESTION - ERROR [BAD PASSWORD]
I have installed the icecast server on my Debian Linux 2.2. I modified the
distributed icecast.conf (as far as thought was necessary), and I set up the
shout.conf...
Both server and shout are started from root and are set up to localhost.
I could start the server, but when I started shout, it did find the server,
but it was blocked with the message "BAD PASSWORD[encoder]" even if the

Thanks. That's got it.
Now I'm getting "bad password" errors. "hackme" is the default password in
icecast and i'm running ices with the -P hackme flag.
Sorry to be such a drain...

icecast + liveice won't play nicely
I have gotten icecast and live ice both up and
running, but I cannot get them to play nicely
together. I have the following in my configs:
icecast:

encoder_password test
admin_password test
oper_password test
port 8000
port 8001
--
liveice:
--
SERVER 192.168.1.2
PORT 8001
PASSWORD test
#ICY_LOGIN
X_AUDIOCAST_LOGIN
--
but when I run both of them using:
./icecast
./liveice
I get (from

Hello,
I tried icecast2 (couple days ago, ports gets upgraded daily) on a
FreeBSD 4.X (4.8-RC) and since it compiles (by default) to use
encrypted passwords i could not make it work. I used the

The reason for asking is that everything else had "hackme" as a pw
and "prettyplease" raised a question because we thought it may be
a part of something else (ie. ices) and curious

cannot get icecast and ices to talk...authentication failed
I have a weird one...
I installed icecast 2 and ices .23 on Mandake, and am not having any luck
I compiled and installed the nightly icecast just today.
It seems to work fine, however when I telnet to it (10.0.0.3, port 8000),
I am unable to login unless the first line contains ONLY the password.
I used ethereal to see that iceS is trying to send to authenticate, and it

Playlist Problem (Newbie)
I just downloaded and installed the newest version of icecast. I have
been using shout to stream my mp3's into icecast, and it worked ok
except it kept stopping mid song and I'd have to hit the play button
again on xmms to get it to work properly, but then a few minutes later
it does the same thing. I downloaded ices to use instead of shout and
now it won't load the playlist..?

RE: Newbee question (hot phone numbers)
Just dropping a note about hot-desking
I believe hot-desking requires hot phone numbers. These hot phone #
should not be connected to physical phones but rather to a database
entry from where the physical phone(s) is(are) retrieved.
Users should be able to modify (securely) their own database record.
I'm currently trying to understand Bluetooth and the Norwood Bluetooth
initiative.
