Problems compiling under OS X
While trying to compile libao 0.8.0 under OS X 10.1, I got the following problems: > [localhost:ecc/Sources/libao-0.8.0] root# ./configure > creating cache ./config.cache > checking for a BSD compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c > checking whether build environment is sane... yes > checking whether make sets ${MAKE}... yes > checking for working aclocal... found >

libao and recent ALSA builds
I had a go at building libao-0.6.0 and it barfed on the alsa output part, complaining that snd_pcm_channel_status_t is undeclared - probably due to me running alsa 0.9.0 beta4. So the question is, should I try and beat the configure stuff into letting me disable alsa support and just use OSS, or would I be better off trying my luck with the nightly builds? And if so, can I get away with just

libao alsa output
Hi, I sent the below a few days ago. It still hasn't turned up in the archive so i'm trying again. Since the first mail was sent, i've found out that removing the call to *_set_periods and *_set_period_size is a better solution to the problem. It seems that the alsa defaults are better than what ever fine tuning the code is trying to do. patch: ---

It's a question of getting the compiler environment setup to do the port. Much of libshout and ices2 are ready but, certain things like live input are different from whats in windows. karl.

RPM dependency rant
So I'd like to try out rc3 (been a happy user of rc2 since it came out). I download the RPMS and try to do an upgrade, only to find that libao and vorbis-tools depends on 'libcurl' and 'libasound' which are not part of Red Hat 7.1 (looks like curl is in 7.2, but God knows where to get libasound). In addition, the RPMs want libcrypto.so.0, while 7.1 and 7.2 have .1. So

vorbis' configure
It seems that the configure script in CVS does not check the CFLAGS environment variable at all. Indeed, on line 121 of configure.in, CFLAGS is explicitly set to be blank. Is this done for a reason? I see that several sets of CFLAGS are passed into the Makefiles by configure based upon specific architecture/compiler combinations -- perhaps this is the reason...? I ask because users may wish to

redhat vorbis install
I hope I'm not being an idiot, but I'm attempting to install vorbis-1.0 RPMs on a few redhat machines and failing horribly. I'm in dependency hell. For starters, libao-0.8.3-1 requires libasound.so.2 (an alsa library?) which does not seem to be available in any recent redhat releases. Then vorbis-tools wants libcurl.so.2, which makes redhat 7.2 machines choke. Worst of all is

_oggpack
Hello I am new at this. I have compiled the libogg and libvorbis libraries and installed them on my MacOS X machine. The libao cannot be compiled yet since stuff is missing. But I only want to play round with encoding right now. So I also unpacked the vorbis tools distribution and am in oggenc. In oggenc I do a cc *.c -I. -L/usr/local/lib -logg -lvorbis -lvorbisenc I get unknown symbols

Newbie problem with ices2
Hi all, I'm fairly new to icecast / ices - been using icecast (2.2.0) to stream audio files for a few weeks, it works very well, now I'm trying to add live feeds via ices (v2.0.1). I've built and installed (on SuSE 9.3 platform) with no apparent errors, copied ices-alsa.xml to user area and modified paths, server password etc. When I run ices (using "ices

ao_arts
Hi, I've written an ao plugin for aRts, the soundserver that comes with KDE. Any chance of including this in the ao distribution ? Pretty please ? :) Sources and patches attached. This is a very simple plugin because it uses the easy-to-use 'artsc' C wrapper that aRts installs. configure.in.diff is for ao/configure.in Makefile.am.diff is for ao/src/plugins/Makefile.am Makefile.am

libao: alsa plugin won't compile
Hey' Can't seem to compile libao. I'm using Slackware-7.1-current-ish, linux-2.4.2, gcc-2.95.2, and alsa-9.0-beta2. This is the first time I've tried to compile libao so I don't know if the problem is related to alsa-9.0 changes. Alsa headers seem to be there: /usr/include/linux> ls -l as*.h -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 35994 Mar 3 10:57 asequencer.h -rw-r--r-- 1

Ices2 / Icecast2 / Long connect and no sound
Hallo, I'm trying to run two seperate live audio streams on my Redhat 8 box. I've got two sound devices that linux (begrudgingly) acknoledges. I can get Ices2 to run off of the onboard sound solution but there seems to be alot of interference, however, when I try to use the PCI-card (a C-Media chipset) it takes a lot time to connect from a remote client and there is no sound coming

Problem compiling ogg on OpenBSD-2.7
Hi, I have downloaded the following files libao-0.6.0.tar.gz libogg-1.0beta4.tar.gz libvorbis-1.0beta4.tar.gz vorbis-tools-1.0beta4.tar.gz as said from the download section. But I'm at a loss to what do after that. I don't have much experience/knowledge in compiling etc, but I still want to try out ogg. (I downloaded the source coz I have an OpenBSD machine, and there was no
