Ices2 - reencoding ogg?
Ok so I'm up and riding with Icecast2 and ices2, thanks for all of
you who pointed me in the right directon. I can stream fine without
reencoding but when I change the nominal-bitrate tag its not happy.
Comments in the xml file say:
<!-- Live encoding/reencoding:
Currrently, the parameters given here for encoding
MUST match the input data for channels and sample rate.

WebSite Ver 2
No one has really stepped forward to push the website ver2 project
forward. So, if it is ok with everyone, I'd like to take that task on.

Usually, long periods of digital silence. Doesn't happen if you have
reencoding on.

Problem with library
Hello.
I'm using R 1.7.0 on win98 ver2. I erased all my previous versions of R,
and install r 1.7.0. When I write "library()" I receive on a separate
pane all the lib in ver 1.7.0, and the following msg "Warning message:
library 'C:/Program Files/R/rw1051/library' contains no package in:
library()"
Where is this msg coming from?? How to remove it?

Ices2 compile error - streaming ogg!
Still trying to stream ogg and have not gotten past a make error in
ices2. We www.freespeech.org are an independent media / news
site so it would be nice to get this running
and support this new format. I'd love to convert all of our 700
streaming video files from from realmedia as well but thats another
story!
Perhaps this is not the correct forum but it seems like there

[LLVMdev] .debug_info section size in arm executable
Dear all
I'd wonder why executable's debug information size is bigger than gcc dwarf debug info.
When I compiled ARM hello world code with -g option, the arm based assembly and executable files are bigger than gcc results significiantly.(apx. 3x)
(source file size was only 3KB)
I think that both clang and gcc use same dwarf format ver2 for debugging. But I don't know why the clang

ices2 realplayer
I'm rebroadcasting a realplayer stream and there are two problems.
The icecast2 sounds tinny and its delayed something like 3secs.
Any advice to perhaps use speex as it's talk radio?
Can I cut the delay?

Ices2 / Icecast2 / Long connect and no sound
Unfortunately, ices2 isn't writing anything to the logs. I've got them on
debug mode, but there still isn't anything being written to indicate it's
having a known problem.
As far as the interference goes, I've found that reducing the iGain and amping
the input source seems to reduce the interfencence a good deal, at least, good
enough such that it's only a low murmur in

Transcoding Ogg streams?
Hi.
I'm confused about one of the statements on
http://www.vorbis.com/faq.psp#unique
I have a server using Ices2 as the source. I provide it with Ogg's
encoded at quality 5, and I get it to provide lower bitrate streams like
so:
ices.xml
--snip--
<instance>
--snip--
<encode>
<samplerate>44100</samplerate>

Problems getting Ices2 to work with live input.
I've got icecast2 and ices2 working with a playlist of ogg files and it
works fine. I've been playing for a few days with getting my audio to work
at all. I've now got my audio where I can play an ogg file from ogg123 -d
oss filename.ogg. When I run ices ices-live.xml I get the following error
in my log file:
[2004-09-30 09:38:07] INFO ices-core/main IceS 2.0.0 started...

Re-encoding ogg-files at lower bitrates
I have some speech encoded at 140 kbps that I would like to have encoded
at 40-60 kbps instead.
I could just convert the file to wav and re-encode the file, but I seem to
recall that ogg-files very easily can be converted to lower bitrates
(something with cutting off the last bits). I would assume that this also
will preserve more of the original data.
Is there a utility for this?

How did you get it to build? ices 0.1.0 explicitly checks version
info, and besides that makes library calls that don't exist in 3.86.

Questions on setting up icecast
yep, they simply forward the bitstream to icecast. And in general, bitrate
changes are handled by most listening clients, although very few I have
found (if any) can handle samplerate changes appropriately.

re-encoding questions
A couple pf questions regarding reencoding... I've got ogg, mp3, and aac
files to stream.
a) What are the restrictions in the current version of ices (0.4?), is
it that channels and samplerate must be equal in all files?
b) will they be reencoded to ogg or to mp3, or is there a choice?
Thanks.
