using the latest icecast and ices to stream both ogg and mp3
darkice is an execellent bit of software, very well written. and the author of the darkice software, akos, is very active on the darkice ML. http://yp.tilos.hu:9000/tilos_high.ogg <= for a darkice stream. b. Directory listing disappeared
Hi: Last week, I upgraded an icecast2 server and enabled the directory code. The primary streams that run on it showed up nicely. As some may recall, I had issues with libshout compiling (seems the sources got hosed somehow, a fresh checkout fixed everything after all else failed), and I just compiled the latest ices2. I noticed, with some surprise, that the config file hadn't changed in

Ices2 / Icecast2 / Long connect and no sound
Unfortunately, ices2 isn't writing anything to the logs. I've got them on debug mode, but there still isn't anything being written to indicate it's having a known problem. As far as the interference goes, I've found that reducing the iGain and amping the input source seems to reduce the interfencence a good deal, at least, good enough such that it's only a low murmur in

Is it OK ?
Hi all, I run a CVS version (i dont remember exactly when did i got it )of Ices2/ Icescast2 on a slackware Linux box . I put this section into the Ices2 conf file : [...] <encode> <samplerate>22000</samplerate> <channels>1</channels> <quality>0</quality> <managed>1</managed> <nominal-bitrate>35000</nominal-bitrate>

Problems with Ices
I am having problems getting Ices to work with ALSA. If I use arecord (arecord -D plughw:0,0 output.wav) I can record the input from my microphone into a file. The playback works perfectly. However, if I use Ices with the same values I hear nothing on the receiving end of my broadcast (although I can connect to it). In order to do a further test, I setup a <savefile> tag in my

automating icecast2 startups
I have icecast2 running on several machines now and have gotten relaying to work just fine. I've posted my instructions on how to do this to my icecast docs site. I have just a few more questions. Perhaps some one on this list has already addressed these issues but has simply not posted these elsewhere. 1) I'm looking for a startup script for launching the icecast2 icecast ices binaries

long delay
> I dont care I just wanted to make sure there is no problem 50 seconds is a bit long. Probably your client buffer is really high and you are streaming at a really low bitrate. But even in that case 50 seconds seems long. If you can post more details on bitrate, client used, buffer size used on the client, etc, that would be helpful for verification. jack. --- >8 ---- List archives:

Player mysteriously quits...
I posted the other day with a question about a player that mysteriously quits playing the icecast stream. I believe the problem is related to the icecast stream for two reasons. 1) Because it quits on more than one different player (Winamp 5 and Foobar2000) and 2) Because I used to use shoutcast with Winamp 2 and never had this problem. Anyway, I tried to get as much information about the problem

audio sample rates
I have an Icecast server and an Asterisk dialplan containing a call to ICES(/my/ices.xml). So Asterisk launches "ices /my/ices.xml" where /my/ices.xml contains: <input> <module>stdinpcm</module> <param name="rate">8000</param> <param name="channels">1</param> </input> and <encode>

make lo-fi sound as good as RealAudio?
Can someone who really knows the Ogg command-line encoder, help recommend the best setting for 33.6k modem stereo music streaming? (56k doesn't count cuz many people's 56k modems don't work at a full 56k, and I want them to be able to surf CD Baby at the same time as listening. 2 minutes / 120 seconds of audio should be about 400k.) I'm at my wit's end: tried everything I

Icecast 2.2.0 and Ices2: no audio
Folks: I'm trying to set up a streaming server under Fedora Core 2 using Icecast 2.2.0. Everything compiles; everything runs. There are no indications of a problem in any of the log files. When I look at http://192.168.0.128:8000/status.xsl, everything looks ok. But when I click on "Click to listen", it brings up xmms, but there's no indication of audio, and xmms shows a bit

Re-encoding vorbis/ogg format on the fly
Hi, Just one quick question. Can ices re-encode vorbis/ogg format on the fly? I know it can do that with mp3 format, but what about vorbis/ogg format? Thanks. Reuben D. Multiple mount points without dynamic reencoding
Hello: I am running the icecast2.3.2 server and ices0.4 with a perl script which provides the filename of the next track to play. I am reencoding in advance using ffmpeg, which has been very reliable. My main stream is mp3, 64kbps / 44.1 kHz (mono) and I have pre-reencoded the tracks to 32kbps / 22.05 kHz (mono), for a lower data rate stream. At this time, I have not figured out how to get a
