Using ices or shout with continuously growing files?
I also tried such things:
lxserv:/mnt/fatbass# tail -f recording.mp3 | /usr/local/icecast/bin/ices -M
stdinpcm -h localhost -p 40044 -P password

Could not find a valid playlist file.

In this case I try to KEEP READING the mp3 file (which becomes continuously
larger), and pipe it to ices (how should I do this?). But ices isn't nice to

[patch] ices CVS tree and potential problems compiling on Solaris
Hello icecast-dev,
this patch against the current ices module CVS tree fixes the following:
PROBLEM:
use of #include "thread.h" in (of all things) im_sun.[ch] can
cause a compile error.
REPRODUCTION:
Compile source tree on Solaris 2.8 using gcc3.2.3 (SMCgcc)

ices 0.4, pure quality and more...
Hello everyone,
Few weeks ago I tuned icecast with 7 streams from ices. It plays
static playlists, sorted by genre.
I have 2 problems. First problem: pure quality when reencoding is
turned on. Temporary solution was found. I added one string, to
reencoding code, that points to liblame use better quality. But is
this the one and right solution?
Second problem: Ices (or liblame?) does not properly

semaphores and Solaris 7 8/99
I just installed the 8/99 release of Solaris 7 on three Sun Ultra 10's and
it seems to have broken Samba. I am running Samba 2.0.5a and it works fine
on an Ultra 10 running the 5/99 release of Solaris 7. All of the Ultra 10's
are using the 64 bit kernel. This is the errors that I am getting.

I worked out a patch for ices-0.2.2 that forces ices to *always* re-encode the stream if Reencode is enabled:

FW: Problem with ICES make on Solaris 8 sparc
Hey guys I am running Solaris 8 (sparc), I downloaded
icecast-1.3.12.tar.gz as well as ices-0.2.3.tar.gz. I successfully
installed icecast with your regular ./configure, make , make install. No
problems at all. However when I ran make on ices I got this:
gcc -g -O2 -Wall -o ices ices.o log.o setup.o stream.o util.o mp3.o
cue.o metadata.o id3.o signals.o playlist/libplaylist.a

when I tried to get ices to build the following occurred. I tried to
confirm all needed libs, but must have not found something.

zfs-discuss mailing list & opensolaris EOL
So, I hear, in a couple weeks'' time, opensolaris.org is shutting down. What does that mean for this mailing list? Should we all be moving over to something at illumos or something?
I''m going to encourage somebody in an official capacity at opensolaris to respond...
I''m going to discourage unofficial responses, like, illumos enthusiasts etc simply trying to get people

I'm running icecast 1.3.7 on this:

Openssh-2.5.1p1 and Solaris 2.6 problem with ssh_rsa_verify
We recently upgraded from an older version of SSH to OpenSSH
2.5.1p1 (OpenSSH_2.5.1p1, SSH protocols 1.5/2.0, OpenSSL 0x0090600f)

openssh 3.7p1 and 3.7.1p1 Solaris problems
I have some Solaris 7 boxes (Ultra 3 and Ultra Enterprise 250 hardware)
that I have compiled both 3.7p1 and 3.7.1p1 on and am having some
problems. I am using the same "configure" options that I have in the
past (without problems). I have tried both new and existing (previously
working) ssh_config and sshd_config files. The new versions seem to
have broken SSH 1 support (and

Hi,
two weeks before, i had the same warnings, but no fatal errors and i got the
following answer von Gerald Carter:

Your compiler wants to compile nsswitch/wb_common.c with -Kpic. On Solaris
it has to be compiled with the option -fPic. Normaly the make-script looks
