NetBIOS problems in presence of audio stream?
At work I have been given the task of building and testing a Samba server. After several days of not being able to get the server to show up in Network Neighborhood, I think I have discovered the problem. The business uses an audio stream from Live365.com, apparently that is causing the other computers to not see the Samba server in Network Neighborhood. Pinging the server proves

IceS & Ogg/Theora
Hi, I looked at the changelog of IceS, and saw nothing about sourcing Ogg/Theora to icecast. Would you know of it is planned or not? I use ezstream for te moment but I need the "script feature" of IceS: the media to play is what a script outputs on STDOUT. For the moment, ezstream only supports a simple m3u file. Thank you. -- Administration & Formation ? l'administration de

That's interesting, I didn't know m3u files could do that. Are they built up using xml? M3U is just a playlist file, and can actually specify different types of streams: MP3, AAC, OGG, for example. The Logitech Squeezebox Product Family plays these streams nicely, although you will need to create an account on the Logitech Squeezebox site to add custom/favorite streams which are not in their Directory. This is no big deal though. -greg. ORBAN -----Original Message----- From: Bijan

AWS/EC2 server selection
Amazon instances are shared resources. I wouldn't want to count on timing or disk throughput, and you can't just ask them to do "ssd" - its a virtual machine! 500 simultaneous recordings is a hefty load, and I would want to know that the underlying hardware is dedicated to the task. Sure you see lots of posts about hosting asterisk and/or freeswitch on EC2. I have done it

Trouble getting Ices/Icecast2 to stream
Mike / Karl - I've tried two different ways of setting up the "stream". In one URL, I named the file directly (http://foo.bar.org:8001/stream.ogg), and in the second, I made a stream.m3u file containing the afore mentioned http statement. Neither worked in Winamp. I had downloaded version 3 of WinAmp, so I uninstalled that, and went out and got the JOrbis (Java) player and the

Add-on patch to support .pls .asx .ram .qtl listing formats
Hi, If you have multiple players installed on your PC/Mac .m3u will always open the last media player who are the default in charge of the extension and mime m3u. On your web site you want maybe to force a link to open real media player or quicktime/itune. You need to create a .pls to force winamp loading the streaming because windows media player won't open .pls etc. If you add a .pls

html manual files nonfunctional
R help.start() opens a web browser as expected, but the ?Manual? html links are dead (although the ?Reference? and ?Miscellaneous Materials? html links do work). I get a similar problem from within RStudio. I?d like to get pointy-clicky html manuals working, to help migrate users from SAS to R. I do see R manuals on this system from the EPEL R rpm's in info and pdf form, for example at

Streaming SSL / HTTPS with m3u file
I solved the issue by adding my own m3u files to /usr/share/icecast/web but I am not sure if this is icecast best-practice. This also raises a few other issues as well… http stream links don’t appear on the icecast stream directory and stream titles and track metadata does not display when opening m3u files created in this way. I assume that there are various reasons for this…mainly that https
