logoutput attribute on exec type
so here I am trying to track down why one of my execs isn''t working properly and I notice in the wiki[1]the option on_failure for logoutput. Valid values are true, false, debug, info, notice, warning, err, alert, emerg, crit. err: Could not

Monitor power save question
I decided to try the x86_64 version of CentOS 5 on my new desktop since it has an Athlon 64 X2 CPU. The one really perplexing oddity is that the monitor no longer goes to power save mode (standby) if the system is idle long enough (e.g., overnight). The "power management" option is set to put the display to sleep after thirty minutes. The display gets blanked but it never goes to

Will Firefox 2.X be included/supported in CentOS 5?
I know this mostly depends on what is/will be done upstream, but with the recent announcement that Firefox 1.5.X will only receive updates until April 24, 2007, is Firefox 2.X in CentOS' future? Alfred

Sweave - problems with underscores in variable names...
Hi all, I've just started using the Friedrich Leisch's Sweave package to generate LaTeX reports with results of my analyses embedded as required. I've encountered a bit of a problem though in the processing of the resulting *.tex file that is as far as I can tell, down to the fact that my variable names have underscores ('_') in their names. The relevant section of code

ices 0.2.2 and Mac OS X 10.1?
I've having trouble getting ices to compile under MacOS X. Mac OS has a somewhat novel threads implementation (I'm being polite, here) and it doesn't get along well with the threads in ices -- has anyone gotten it to compile under MacOS X? Initial errors: Making all in thread cc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I.. -I../avl -I../log -g -pipe -pipe -fno-common -no-cpp-precomp

stream sounds like poo for no apparent reason
here at wkdu.org our minds are blown trying to figure out what our problem is, we are using a dell optiplex gx1 with a soundblaster live card. we are getting a nasty hum on the line in. the thing is we plug a cd player directly into the soundcard the hum goes away and when we plug the line in into anything else there is no hum, so the question i ask where is the hum coming from? we are

yum hangs when Reading Local RPMDB
All of a sudden yum hangs on a Centos 4.5 (updated to the latest patch before 4.6) when I try to use it. "clean metadata" didn't help. The output of -d5 shows it gets to the point of "Reading Local RPMDB" and then sits there. The process doesn't die, but doesn't seem to do anything from that point on. strace shows this: futex(0xb76dcae8, FUTEX_WAIT, 2, NULL I

Silly question about 5.1
I just rebooted my desktop system to pick up the 5.1 kernel, etc. One oddity I noticed is that the contents of /etc/redhat-release still says: [root at bend etc]# cat /etc/redhat-release CentOS release 5 (Final) but: [root at bend etc]# rpm -q --whatprovides /etc/redhat-release centos-release-5-1.0.el5.centos.1 On my CentOS 4 box, /etc/redhat-release says: [dave at fraud ~]# cat

using an image as a dendrogram label
Hi, does anybody know if it is possible to use an image (rather than text) to label the leaves of a dendrogram? I realize that this will not always lead to a useful on-screen display, but ideally I'd like to directly go from the dendrogram to a PDF and on-screen viewing is not to too important for me. Also, my trees are relatively small. Any pointers would be apreciated

CentOS 5 and Broadcom wireless
I've got CentOS 5 installed on my hp pavilion ze 5300 laptop and the network configuration UI says my wireless NIC has been correctly identified and assigned what appears to be the right Broadcom device driver on eth1. However, the inteface doesn't come up. Google doesn't find anything recent about using Linux with Broadcom except for someone's passing remark that Ubuntu 7 beta

Since upgrading my server from CentOS 4.5 to 4.6 I've been getting the following error from amanda backups: mutilate /home lev 1 FAILED [compress got signal 11, /bin/tar got signal 13] I was away from the house for most of the end of December and had a couple of other issues that came up that could have been related but apparently weren't (why is it that several things all go wrong

CentOS 5 and ndiswrapper
This is an abbreviated version of an e-mail that I also posted to the ndiswrapper mailing list. Compressing the long story, I ran into the same problem using CentOS 5 as I had with Fedora Core 6 and ndiswrapper: my laptop (HP Pavilion zv6000 series with a Broadcom BCM43xx wireless NIC) would lock up or spontaneously reboot after a few hours if I brought up the wireless interface. I also

Make Raid1 2nd disk bootable?
On earlier versions of Centos, I could boot the install CD in rescue mode, let it find and mount the installed system on the HD even when it was just one disk of RAID1 partitions (type=FD). When booting from the centos5 disk the attempt find the system gives a box that says 'You don't have any Linux partitions'. At the bottom of the screen there is something that says:
