icecast-1.3.12 on SunOS
Hello, I sent the mail below a few days ago to the icecast user discussion and support list. Until now nobody could help me. Maybe this list is a better place for problems of this kind? question about icecast & winamp & media player
Hi, It's been pretty quiet as of late. I have a question. I have an icecast server housed at my provider with a very good internet connection. At work I'm using an ADSL line, which should be sufficient to listen to the 128K streams I'm sending out. However, when I listen with WinAmp, after about half an hour the stream stutters and stops. I can restart it and listen again but it

Newbe: OK so far?
OK, I found LAME's web site and installed it using the source for it. That appears to work. I also found a couple of libxml... packages and either replaced the existing ones and added a few others. That went without problem. However the same problem exists. I found that the lame.h file is in a directory of /root/lame3.70 Perhaps the make can't find it at this directory? IS there

my icecast problem
Hi, I've managed to capture some output from the log tail using debug level 4. I couldn't capture it from the beginning, and it seems the debug info isn't sent to the log file (is there a way to do that ?) Here's a snippet of the log being repeated a lot of times during the few seconds that I notice the stutter : -> [28/Feb/2001:12:43:13] DEBUG: sock_write_bytes_or_kick: -1

AW: ices question
hi , my guess is you connect all of the clients to the same mount point, causing icecast to interleave the data. Which is obviously not a good thing. If this is the case, then you should get the errors as soon as you start the second stream. i start any stream via sh-skript like : ./ices -B -d Radiocity -F /music/playlists/alternative.pls -m /alternative -g Alternative -h localhost -n

Apart from what probably is a bad assumption in the code, does it actually present a problem ? Meaning, even though it indicates 100% cpu usage, does it slow down your machine

[icecast-dev] Some nits in icecast 1.3.12
Attached are nits I found in 1.3.12. That first patch there looks more like a bug than a nit. ------ Dave Hayes - Consultant - Altadena CA, USA - dave@jetcafe.org >>> The opinions expressed above are entirely my own <<< Before criticizing people, walk a mile in their shoes. Problem with Streams > 160KBit/s
Hi, does anybody set up an icecast server delivering streams > 160KBit/s ? I tried that with liveice and shout but in both cases the stream stutters very much. So, I have eliminated the Net (stream to localhost), the CPU (P3/800 should be fast enough), and lame (can encode 320kBit/s 3 times faster then the wav has secs). So the Problem should be icecast. can anybody please enlight me?

patches for xiph build setup
Hi, I offered some time ago to do some build cleanup. Today I did so and here's my slew of patches. Basically, they - touch ogg, vorbis, vorbis-tools and theora - fix a bunch of autotools issues - uniformize the use of them across the four - fix compile/link flags - use pkgconfig if it's available to detect flags - for vorbis-tools, generate and use config.h - add -uninstalled .pc stuff

Quite possible, though I'm only using 56kbps 22khz stereo anyway so that's not such a big deal. I
