ices 0.2.2 does not reencode mp3s
I recently upgraded ices from 0.1.0 to 0.2.2. I have found that it is not reencoding my mp3 stream, even though I have it configured to. This is on a RedHat linux 7.0 system, kernel 2.4.11 ices build commands: ./configure --with-perl --with-lame \ --with-lame-includes=/usr/local/src/lame-3.89/include \ --with-lame-libraries=/usr/local/src/lame-3.89/libmp3lame/.libs gmake

Yet another LAME re-encoding question
Yes, I have checked the archives :) I am running Ices 0.2.2 with icecast 1.3.10 and LAME 3.87. I have compiled Ices without any problems, it found lame.h and the libraries, my problem is that when I run ices, it doesn't re-encode the files. This is the command line I am using to play around with: ./ices -b 64 -H 64 -F playlist -h localhost -p 8000 -P letmein -r -v The log shows nothing

ices...mount points (and a LAME question)
hi don't know if i'm missing something, but how do i name mount points using ices? i assumed this was specified in the <ices:Stream> <ices:Name></ices:Name> </ices:Stream> chunk but whatever i put in there, icecast tells me that my stream is going to /ices (according to the output from configure/make, xml is being properly compiled it) --- ...ALSO, a

Ices memory leak?
Is anyone else experiencing what seems to be a memory leak with Ices? I can have icecast up and running with WinAmp streaming to it from my '98 box for days at a time with no problem. As soon as I start Ices I'll launch top to watch and my free mem starts dropping -fast-. Starting from about 160MB free, in 4-5 hours I have 2MB free with Ices crashed and the memory unrecovered which sends

problems with liveice
Hi! I'm running icecast 1.3.11 and liveice under Mandrake 7.2 Right now I don't have a sound card, but I will. Also I need to reencode the MP3s that I'm sending to the icecast server. I followed the instructions but it doesn't seem to work, when I first run icecast and after liveice I got this: from icecast Accepted encoder on mountpoint /icy_0 from localhost.localdomain. 1

Ices memory leak?
i'd also point out that memory "use" under linux can be deceptive. -----Original Message----- From: owner-icecast@xiph.org [mailto:owner-icecast@xiph.org]On Behalf Of Brendan Cully Sent: Monday, September 10, 2001 4:00 PM To: icecast@xiph.org Subject: Re: [icecast] Ices memory leak? lame question.
I think the question is, how do you change /icy_0 to /mystreamname, or at least /mystreamname_0. I'm guessing it would have to be somewhere in the source? I'd love to have some kind of control over stream names, such as having a particular mount point for a stream from a certain IP address. I have some macs streaming using MacAmp, and they have no way to specify mount point.

bad quality, important buffering, etc...
Hi, I'm trying to set up an icecast 1.3.11 server for our Medicine School. It's on a PIII 1Ghz, with 256 Mb RAM on a BiPro board (single proc yet), and a 3 COM 10/100 NIC. Unfortunately the NIC is plugged in a 10 Mbits/s hub for now. It's under GNU/Linux (Debian Woody) + a 2.4.10 kernel. The load of the server is very low, because there's almost only icecast running + ices which

a few ices/icecast questions
hiya. i'm using ices 0.2.2 with icecast 1.3.10 and otto 1.0 (a web/db playlist mgmt tool). overall, i'm very pleased with the setup, but i'm having a few problems. 1) whenever otto plays a track (by exec'ing ices), that same track keeps playing over and over. i have to direct otto to kill the track (and the ices process) in order to get it to play the next track. i notice this

Ices
I notice two versions on the Web site, 0.2.2 being shown as developmental. I'm building a new server that will run Icecast 1.3.11 and I'm wondering how stable Ices 0.2.2 is? Are there enough fixes in it that it's worth using it? Thanks, Hunter --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ icecast project homepage: http://www.icecast.org/ To unsubscribe from this list,

streaming to dialup users gives low quality audio
Hello, I've got two streams, one for broadband, one for dialup. Well, having had occation to use a dialup connection recently i checked the dialup stream. Although it was streaming what the broadband stream was, the audio quality was audibly worse. It didn't buffer, but it didn't sound as clear as the broadband stream. I used lame to encode the tracks to mp3 and used it's

ices 0.3 on FreeBSD
I have successfully compiled Ices 0.3 on FreeBSD (4.7 and 4.9). You need to make sure that ALL the dependicies are installed (some depend on others) and when compiling them, that they compile with no problems. <p>Include some output of what errors you are getting and I #should# be able to help you on your way. <p>>From: "dave" <dmehler26@woh.rr.com>
