Where can I get Icecast 2.0?
I have Icecast 1.3.11 working just fine. Now I want to try to migrate
to the Ogg Vorbis thing, for purposes of static file streaming.
With 1.3.11 as a default install on RedHat 7.1, would I install v2.0
as a new product or overlay / delete the v1.3.11 install?
Thanks

Printer sharing with 64-bit Windows clients
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

I have a problem accessing a CUPS/Samba shared printer on a Windows XP x64
Professional system (WinNT5.2 kernel). It seems from my searching that
this is a problem affecting only 64-bit Windows clients, but perhaps not
all 64-bit Windows clients.

Update freeamp. There were streaming bugs until last week.
Not sure about sonique.

Difficulty w/1.0 and Sonique/Winamp
I am very excited to see the Vorbis 1.0 out.
Unfortunately, neither Sonique 1.808a nor Winamp 2.5
is willing to play the resulting files. Only silence.
I tried the simple case of 'oggenc track1.wav' and it
created the expected track1.ogg, 3.5MB in size with
avg. bitrate of 110kbps at default quality 3. These
applications worked fine with a much older version of
oggenc. Maybe Beta 2

connection problem
I am pretty sure that the integrity of my mp3's is okay. I know that music
match shreds the mp3 data and produces mp3 files that are not ISO compliant.
I always use WaveLab and the radium codec to encode my sets and enable the
ISO compatibility option at all times. This problem only seemed to come
about with winamp 2.7 but if sonique is doing it to, I don't know...

Vorbis stream up now
Greetings:
If you're using the latest XMMS (CVS preferably), FreeAmp, Sonique
(?), or ogg123 (maybe), please check out this URL for a Vorbis playlist
stream:
http://64.108.112.34:8000/shouter.ogg
The playlist is lengthy, and I've set it to repeat three times, so it
will be on-line for a while. Please let me know how well or badly the
stream was received, thanks.

playlist display issues
Hi. I'm running the wonderful icecast 1.3.11 and ices on a RedHat 7.2 box.
Everything seems to work as it should except for various client mp3 players
being able to display the artist/song title information. I've had the same
problem using different streamers so I'm wondering if this is a problem with
the way I've configured icecast? Did I miss something or is this possibly an

Winamp icecast streaming broken?
Hi,
I have a few problems with Winamp 2.8. (I can't use or recommend Winamp3
because of all the various problems I've had with it. It seems that Ogg
streaming is broken on ports other than port 80. However, streaming in general
seems not to work correctly.
If I point the winamp client at an icecast or gnump3d server, it locates
the file or stream fine, buffers a bit, and starts

Looking for a client to feed Icecast
Would like to use a Windows client with a line-in processor to
feed an icecast server. Have tried Winamp, but could not get the
plugin recommended in this forum to work. Looked at the Sonique site,
and could not find plugins that would do line-in and server out.
Any recommendataions?

Winamp just put the finishing touches on their own vorbis plugin, and we
expect it to ship in the next version. Sonique has already had Vorbis

I've searched the archives on xiph and elsewhere in hopes of finding an
answer on whether song titles will work. There seems to be no definitive
answer.
use_meta_data 1 DOES work for WinAmp 2.75 but nothing else I've tried (which
includes the latest WinAmp and Sonique). Also, I can get some header by
telnetting into my port (see below) but still the "meta_data" issue remains
