any metadata stream documentation at all?
Hi-- Is there any documentation at all on how to use metadata streams? In particular, I'm wondering if it's possible to have a metadata stream which is synchronized with an audio stream (e.g., a slide show). thanks, -C -- Craig Latta composer and computer scientist craig.latta@netjam.org www.netjam.org crl@watson.ibm.com Smalltalkers do: [:it | All with: Class, (And

how to set up a Vorbis server
Hi-- I'd like to stream Vorbis files from an OpenBSD 2.8 box. I followed the instructions at http://i.cantcode.com/~jack/icecast.html (via http://www.xiph.org/ogg/vorbis/index.html), and ran aground during the compilation of .../icecast/src/source.c. It needs /usr/include/ogg/{ogg,os_types,config_types}.h; /usr/include/ogg doesn't exist. I gather the directory and files

Samba 2.0.7 and Win98SE
I have been having an irritating problem with my home network. My network consists of 1 PC running Mandrake 8.0 as the file server with Samba 2.0.7, three PCs running Win98SE and one PC running Win XP. I have had the network running for almost two years in various OS configurations and for the most part have had smooth operations. However, my problem comes when I try and copy, move, or save any

Win98SE to Samba 2.0.10 Problems
Thanks for the answers so far but I haven't been able to come up with an solution yet :( Some new info (see bottom of email for history): 1. I upgraded to 2.0.10 on my Mandrake 8.0, no change to the transfer problem. 2. I attempted to ftp a file from the Win 98SE PC to my Samba Server, didn't work. So I can assume that it is not specifically Samba problem. 3. I have changed the NIC cards

Access denial
Hi, My name is Tom Faulhaber. I am the network administrator at a small company in Providence,RI. I am running Samba 2.2.2 on a Redhat 6.1 machine on a Novell 4.21 network. The workstations are Win98SE. The Linux box is being used for the company intranet (Apache 1.3.22). Everything runs fine, however I am completely stumped on one issue (so far). That issue is: network connectivity. If I

Win98SE
Hello, Can I run Win98SE in Wine? I've an old game I'd like to run once more that *only* works with DirectX 6.0b and no other. Stupid, right? Wine is my last hope in playing that game... Syslinux 3.70 - BSS DOS boot says: "Could not find kernel Image: linux".
Hello, I'm trying to create and boot a Win98SE-DOS OS through Hard Disk emulation. My src files are from a Win98SE 1440K floppy image file, with a x86 boot sector (dl'd from the net - I have no floppy drive and a slow net link 3.2KB). I don't know what to put into the partition boot record of my image and how to load dos.bss properly (the docs explain for floppy images not for HD

Problem booting from CF/SD cards and USB Flashdrives using syslinux
I've run into a rather odd problem. It seems that I can format and make bootable CF/SD cards and USB Flashdrives under Windows 98SE and MS-DOS 6.22 that will boot to a A: prompt on my system. But when I try making the same CF/SD cards and USB Flashdrives bootable under linux using syslinux I get nothing, not even a error message. It's like the syslinux bootloader doesn't even

Lots of controllers, one page.
I have a site with a complex database and about 10 models. The main page of the site has around 5 tables/models bringing data in, so conceptually it seems like I should use a controller on each model. Is there a way to render multiple controllers on a page or am I going about this the wrong way. I''d like to keep the size of my controllers down so writing the entire application in one

Guest OS installed in wine?
Hi! I would like to install Win98SE as a guest operating system on my Linux Mandrake. Is it possible using wine? If so, how to do it? Shall I leave the free Win partition that will be used during this installation process, or maybe it's not necessary? And do you know anything about the possibilities of windows installed in this way: will all my games and programs run properly? Also the sound

Title formatting for players/plugins
Hi, Peter Pawlowski's new (1.15beta) winamp decoder plugin seems quite nice, in my opinion.. The "title formatting logic" is what I've been dreaming of for ages.. Right now I've chosen "%artist / [[%[abbr20]album][-%[num2]tracknumber] / ]%title[ - %version]" I get titles such as "Artist / Title"or "Artist / Album / Title" or "Artist /

Using samba on two domains
Hello all, We've been using samba version 3.0.4 on RH9 with success for quite a while now for shares on our domain (DOM1). Since this machine will have to be available in the near future in another domain (DOM2) as a webserver, and limited fileserver, another network interface has been added for the NIC. When browsing the shares from a WIN98SE computer in DOM2, we are able to see the

"Ghost" print job.
Hi all, I'm currentlly using samba-2.2.2 together with LPRng-3.7.4, and have a problem with a printjob that woun't go away. I use samba for a small file/printserver for 10 people using win98se clients, and it's been working very nicely. As I upgraded from samba-2.0.6, I sent out a testpage from one of the win98se clients to the two printers (hpljet 6L, Epson stylus photo 750) we have

Weird Keys in Counterstrike
Hi, I have just compiled wine-20011108 for my Mandrake 8.1 box, installed Half-Life, patched it to 1.1.0.8, installed csv13full.exe. I then tried to connect to a local LAN server however all the keys are all real weird. I ran my standard win98se config file, it worked OK. By weird I mean that normally when I move the mouse my player looks around but under wine he starts a slow slide across
