python playlist bug?
I don't know if it is bug or not, but when I played with ices.py module I found that the body of script is executed everytime any function (like ices_get_next_song) is called. This cause that when you use sceleton (ices.py.dist) it doesn't work. I mean this line songnumber=-1 at begin of file. My python is version 1.5.2 It's a bug or normal behavior? Regards, Madr --

lame question.
I think the question is, how do you change /icy_0 to /mystreamname, or at least /mystreamname_0. I'm guessing it would have to be somewhere in the source? I'd love to have some kind of control over stream names, such as having a particular mount point for a stream from a certain IP address. I have some macs streaming using MacAmp, and they have no way to specify mount point.

ices...mount points (and a LAME question)
hi don't know if i'm missing something, but how do i name mount points using ices? i assumed this was specified in the <ices:Stream> <ices:Name></ices:Name> </ices:Stream> chunk but whatever i put in there, icecast tells me that my stream is going to /ices (according to the output from configure/make, xml is being properly compiled it) --- ...ALSO, a

Two streams, one source, two different bandwidths: A newbie question
Ok - here's what I want to do... I compiled and installed icecast 1.3.11 and ices 0.2.2, and can get a single lame-encoded stream working. What I'd like to do is set up two streams - one at 48kbps, one at 128kbps - from one source. Reason being is that I'd like to listen to the high-bandwidth stream locally (ie: in another room of the house) while I listen to the 48kbps stream

ogg vorbis codec for windows media player?
This may mave been asked before: is there some way once can get the windows media player to play ogg vorbis content? I don't use windows in general, but someone has approached me with this question. --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ icecast project homepage: http://www.icecast.org/ To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to 'icecast-request@xiph.org'

SEmodule dependency hell.
I want you all to see what I went through trying to simply reassign (unsuccessfully) the context of a well-known port. To the best of my ability to recall none of the packages mentioned below are even installed on the host in question. Why are these dependices preventing me from removing a disused SELinux policy. I have done exactly that, reassign port contexts, in the past without encountering

parsing icecast 1 and icecast2 logs in GUI web format
I know this was mentioned some time back, but I am curious if anyone has had any further success with this. My radio station is looking for a nice clean comprehensive overview of all connections to our icecast 1 and 2 servers. Someone had tweaked the webalizer program to render all the stats in a nice GUI format. However, there were still a couple items missing. Just wondering what everyone else

icecast 2 problem
I just tried my first production icecast 2 streaming. When I try and connect ogg123 to the stream, I get the following: $ ogg123 -v http://yp.tilos.hu:9000/tilos96 HTTP Headers: ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ and then the last line unlimited number of times. question on downsampling
Hi, Maybe a bit off topic for this list, bt anyway. I have received several feature requests for DarkIce to support downsampling of the audio input before passing it to lame or ogg vorbis. For example the audio read from the soundcard would be 44.1kHz, and lame would get it at 22.05kHz. I figure two ways of doing this: 1. For lame, one can specify the input and the desired mp3 sampling rate,

Centos 5.3 - NetworkManager applet
So far I have upgraded 2 test laptops (no big servers or this, my main laptop). I am running from local repos. The OS repo is from downloading the isos and extracting them. The Update repo I get with an rsync command. On both laptops, the update ends with a dialog panel (oh, I am using gnome): The NetworkManager applet caould not find some required resources. It cannot continue. I

metadata update in the stream
This has come up earlier, but I don't remember a solution. How do I update the metadata of the stream 'on the fly'? I'm thinking of having a live stream (through darkice), with the title, author, etc. metadata changed every once in a while to reflect the actual program. How would I do that? Should I insert such data into the mp3 / ogg voribs data somehow by calling some

Wengo config and G729(a)
Hi list! Again Wengo has made changes to their servers that require modifications to * configs. Is there anyone that has the 'new' wengo working with asterisk that could post their configs? Also they switched codecs, now G720a is required to connect. I can only find an (open) G729 codec, is this the same as G729a? Thanks!
