[LLVMdev] The Incredible Shrinking Bytecode File
Hi, I've just committed changes that enable bytecode compression in the various tools. This means that all bytecode files produced by LLVM will be significantly smaller. The performance penalty for compression and decompression has been determined to be small in the face of other work applied to the bytecode files. For example, compression/decompression added about 300 milliseconds of CPU

[LLVMdev] Incredible effects of extending AtomicSDNode::Ops
Hello, As part of enhancing atomic operations in the ARM backend, we need to extend the Ops array in AtomicSDNode. This array is a private member of AtomicSDNode, so it's only accessible within 85 lines of code, none of which have anything to do with its size. Therefore, increasing the size of Ops shouldn't at all affect the behaviour of LLVM, we supposed. Much to our surprise, this

rsync 2.6.0 causing incredible load on Linux 2.4.x?
Hi everyone. Has anyone experienced rsync 2.6.0 causing huge amounts of system load? Especially on Linux 2.4? We recently upgraded our "push" machine to rsync 2.6.0 and the next push that went out (rsyncing about 3GB of data to 15 servers sequentially over gigabit ethernet) caused the box to hit 110.59. We only know the load because snmpd was still working, but nothing else in userspace

the incredible lightness of crossprod
The following is at least as much out of intellectual curiosity as for practical reasons. On reviewing some code written by novices to R, I came across: crossprod(x, y)[1,1] I thought, "That isn't a very S way of saying that, I wonder what the penalty is for using 'crossprod'." To my surprise the penalty was substantially negative. Handily the client had S-PLUS as

Sonic Mega Collection crashes on startup.
Ubuntu 8.04 Wine 1.1.10 The sonic mega collection contains almost every genesis sonic game, along with some game gear sonics. The game installed flawlessly, and the no-cd patch worked also. However, upon loading, it shows a faint shadow of the famous SEGA startup screen and then locks up and must be force killed. Changing it to various compat modes did nothing. Normal Output: Code: name at

Fw: How to define an instruction
Thank you for answering my confusion. I have another questions. If I add really instructions instead intrinsics ,can I reach my purpose? I guess ,the answer is "can't". I don't find the anything about how machine to do about instructions, especially "ALU" instructions. Thank you again, Tianhao Shen On 11/14/2018 13:42,Craig Topper<craig.topper at gmail.com>
