OK, am I missing something ??
Hi all, Didn't get any replies to my previous query, so I thought I'd try again. Since I last emailed out, my station has appeared on yp.icecast.org, so I really don't know what was going on there.... This time, however, I'm hot on the trail of a generally crappy output stream from icecast/streamcast/ices. It stutters; it halts on track changes; it causes the little red

live365
Another, but more recent problem, I am having is Live365. I haven't done much work with it, but can you relay to Live365 properly? They give me an ip and it works, but I don't show up in their listings, and the song title doesn't show up in the client's mp3player. (whereas if someone listens to the local broadcast they do get the song titles). Using latest, from CVS, Icecast

Sacrilege, but...
Hi all, I'm afraid that having spent yet another entire day floundering around in the world of icecast, I've really now got to the point of asking a difficult question. I set up an icecast server back in early 1999, and it seemed to work fine for months. We had a server crash here that meant I had to go and reget the sources to rebuild, and ever since then it has been nothing but

lots of icecast help needed
Hi, I've been running Icecast on my server for over five months now and am having lots of problems with it. I must have pulled out half of my hair on this product, mostly due to lack of support. (I mean, have you ever gotten an answer to your question at icecast.org?) I've tried it all: sc_serv, Icecast, shout, ices, streamcast, liveice. I could greatly use any help. I am using the

Well, I consider icecast as a testing application server. You just cant deploy it all of a sudden becuse it needs a lot of work still and the UI needs to be friendlier. Lets wait till the top programmers come up with a central solution which i am sure that they will. I myself have been using SHOUTcast and its ok. User count reached at 460 a time ago but with icecast, i dont think that it can at

Error Syncing to MPEG
I am trying to relay a streamtuner Live365 stream across a ssh tunnel to a remote XP pc, where I would pick it up using winamp. I have a similar setup with a non-live365 stream routed using streamripper to port 9001 and this plays correctly in winamp For my Live365 stream, I have a RealVNC root session that is streaming the Live365 broadcast from streamtuner (using XMMS). I can see XMMS playing

Icecast Directory
Why does my stream not show up in the Icecast directory but it does show up in the Shoutcast directory? I have the following lines listed in my icecast.conf file. icydir yp.shoutcast.com directory yp.icecast.org If I check the icecast.log file I see the following is occurring every couple minutes. [28/Dec/2001:11:12:04] [1:Calendar Thread] directory_touch_xa([yp.icecast.org:80 ])

Why doesn't yp.icecast.org show my stream?
[Reposted here, silence on the icecast list, is this deliberate?] Once again, I'm clueless as to what is going on because I don't have the source or logs to yp.icecast.org. I am touching yp.icecast.org fine: [14/Feb/2002:01:39:22] directory_touch_xa([yp.icecast.org:80]) completed...server id = 69 but my radio station isn't shown. ices cvs crashing
Well, hi folks: I am still having this problem with ices crashing regularly. I have upgraded to todays cvs for ices and icecast hoping that would take care of it but no such luck. I am not sure just what is going on. It seems to happen fairly often which is not exactly making my listeners happy. I will include the relevant portion of the ices.log below. I would appreciate any suggestions

Getting Listed on yp.shoutcast.com
Scott, > Thats what i do.. just relay. Exactly how are you doing it, and what software are you using (shoutcast version / icecast version / what streaming software are you using)? I'm running icecast 1.3.10, shoutcast 1.8.0, and irpd 0.16 to stream. When I try to relay from shoutcast to my main icecast server, I get the following: <03/15/01@22:38:06> [main] dns thread starting

Why doesn't yp.icecast.org show my stream?
Jack Moffitt <jack@xiph.org> writes: > The source is in icecast cvs in the 'icedir' module. But what's > actually running is slightly modified. Heh. Is it possible to see a copy of what is actually running? I'm probing the directory server with a quick script but I'm getting 400 URL must be absolute which I should figure out soon. >>

Sacrilege, but...
I had this same problem for awhile on Icecast 1.3.10. I moved back to 1.3.0 (I know!) and it went away. At the time (a few months back) I was using CVS Ices. That was on this system: Linux 2.2.19 glibc-2.1.3-15 glib-1.2.6-3 glibc-devel-2.1.3-15 (I think pretty close to Mike's). trying to get better ogg quality for this clip
hi folks, in my (unlucky) first test of ogg vs other encoders, i found a case where wma and mp3pro sound much better than ogg at 64k. can anyone suggest a setting that i haven't tried yet that can rival the wma and mp3pro samples at 64k? it's the "gravel effect" that is troublesome. the part in question is the first 15 seconds of this wave file:

a new directory service
I am not averse to making time-dependent information available. But it does not fit in this model. We have to change the model to accomodate time-dependent information, and I'm not willing to use the model that has been use in the past, which was to treat both types of information as identical and just accept all the inconsistencies and problems. And easy solution is to let clients query
