Fiber or regular DSL Supported Gateways/PRI
Hello Everyone, I am looking to getting converged with the local ILEC here in Canada (Bell or Telus), and was wondering if I can get some more information about typical setups. DIDs and channel offerings from third party clecs does not fit our business model and that's why we are looking to purchasing phone numbers directly from the ILEC, and manging our own PRIs for a convergence of sorts.

System Maintenance (fwd)
The attached is from my ISP (times are GMT -0800). This outage will impact: a) The mailing lists and mailing list archives. b) search of the Shorewall web site and list archives. I will be out of town when this outage occurs so I will have my fingers crossed that things will come back up ok. -Tom -- Tom Eastep \ Shorewall - iptables made easy Shoreline, \ http://shorewall.sf.net

Asterisk & BRI in the USA - Episode 2 "The Phantom Sales Rep"
Hey all here's an update. I do care to thank everyone for your information on BRI interfaces that operate in USA/NA. I know the responses are were limited, but the selection of hardware is also limited. (Shame because BRI would fit my needs perfectly). To continue, it's now been over 4 weeks since I last talked to the ILEC sales rep about pricing and plans. Unfortunately there

Covad anyone ...
Has anyone done any integration work with Covad's hosted solution ? I am considering Covad's hosted solution and want to be able to use Asterisk to develop some other apps. Anyone else tried this ? how did Covad react. I know they use MGCP. Another thing, the Cisco reseller rep tells me if I have a bunch of 7960's setup for MGCP (for use with Covad) I will need to get these

Cisco upgrade to SIP was: Covad anyone ...
There is an option that you can add to your dhcp server option 150 IIRC. -----Original Message----- From: "Rich Adamson" <radamson@routers.com> To: "Asterisk Users Mailing List - Non-Commercial Discussion" <asterisk-users@lists.digium.com> Sent: 2/27/06 4:37 PM > Has anyone done any integration work with Covad's hosted solution ? RE: Cisco 7960 upgrade to SIP
I recently upgraded a Cisco 7960 to the SIP firmware, it worked fine without a "call-manager". I just put the SIP firmware and associated config files in the TFTP directory of my asterisk server so that the phone could pull the firmware off of my asterisk server via TFTP. It took me about 5 minutes maximum to get the phone working with SIP through asterisk. NO Call-manager was used in

Vorbis newbie questions
Greetings: I'm writing an article for the O'Reilly Network, and the focus is on streaming audio with Linux. I would like to include material concerning Vorbis, but I need some information: 1) What's up with www.vorbis.com and www.icecast.org ? Can anyone say when they'll be back on-line ? 2) Where should I go to get the latest Vorbis sources ? 3) What players,

e911 Signalling
Hi, We've got a dedicated T1 with two trunks running into our ILECs selective router for 911. Split out of the T1 into two MF CAMA trunks on ILEC side. I'm trying to use asterisks e911 signaling, but I'm having trouble with the dial command. (== Everyone is busy/congested at this time (1:1/0/0)) I'm missing something and I'm thinking it has to do with the hookstate

DID VoIP trunk provider for metro Chicago, LA and/or Orlando.
I am looking for a provider that will provide an equivalent of DID/DOD trunks via IAX, IAX2 or SIP using numbers in Metro Chicago (prefer Skokie), LA (prefer West Hollywood or Venice), and/or Orlando (prefer Winter Garden). If I can migrate some of my existing numbers using LNP, that would be even better, but it is not a requirement. While I know that there are several companies that will

ILEC Interconnect
Hello Everyone, We are looking to interconnect with a local ILEC over an OC-n transport layer. They basically gave us two options in terms of mapping the SONET to the DS3: * VT1.5s mapping * DS1s mapping The second option is quite clear. We would MUX the connection, and plug the lines into qaud t1 cads etc... The tech mentioned that with the second option we would also need a DACS to convert

Call forwarding (from PHONE configuration) with PRI
Hi folks. My client is wanting to use call forwarding configured on their phones (Linksys SPA942), with a PRI from their provider. When we configure call forwarding, we invariably get a "The number you have dialed is not in service" message from the providers. Examining the detailed dial plan debugging as well as the PRI debugging, the number is dialed correctly. The only difference

OT: Please comment on Dvorak's troll
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,1812887,00.asp Specifically, his assertion that ISP's would sniff traffic and block, say, the SIP port. You could play wack-a-mole with port numbers, no? Also a community based, Freenet style of encryption implementation for "free" VoIP traffic would address this issue. I raise this to the list because I'm sure there's a grain of

Looking for a guide to collect all e-mail from the ISP mail server
> What you are looking for would be a very advanced setup > [...] I don't think so. But we'll see! I would be happy to take a pre-packaged mail server solution like iRedMail which includes RoundCube or whatever. I just need a "easy", practical guide to reconfigure it to 1) download e-mails from a multidrop, and 2) relay external e-mail to the ISP's SMTP server.

MeetMe: Zap channels don't ever disconnect. . .
I was playing around with conferencing tonight. I was able to place a bunch of SIP phones and a couple of my Zap FXS phones into a conference. So I thought, "Let's see what it's like when people come in from outside." So I called a friend and had him call in on one of my Zap channels, WHICH IS CONNECTED TO MY POTS LINE THAT DOESN'T DO DISCONNECT SUPERVISION. When he

Strange occurrence
You mentioned that your systems are running Fedora Core. At 4:00 every morning cron runs the updatedb script to update the locate database. That script looks for files on all local files systems on the machine. When it does this it causes starvation of memory so the kswap process activates, while that process is looking for candidates to move to swap space your regular user processes will

OT - Number Portability
Sorry for the off-topic, but perhaps this will be of interest to other asterisk based ITSPs. We are starting service in a rural area where the ILEC has the rural "monopoly". From what we have read in the FCC docs this does NOT exempt them from number portability, but what does it take for us to qualify to receive their numbers? To date we simply have a few voice trunks to them,

FreeBSD 4.9 RC1 (more bad news)
A few hours ago I downloaded .../i386/ISO-IMAGES/4.9-RC1-i386-disc1.iso and made kern/mfsroot floppies from it. If I enable my ICH5R SATA controller in "native" mode, the 4.9-RC1 GENERIC kernel hangs solidly (only the system reset button can unwedge it) during device configuration. The last line of bootstrap monologue written by the kernel is: plip0" <PLIP network

Persistent audio streams?
On Sunday 23 January 2005 12:08, you wrote: > The question is, why are the clients dropping? It could be your net > flaking out. I've even heard of some ISPs cutting connections every > 24 hours. Bingo. The stream drops at exactly midnight every night. Right on schedule. I expected better, especially since I'm paying extra for a business-level DSL connection. I guess I

Intel 875P/ICH5 motherboard chipset
Does anyone know if support for the Intel 875P/ICH5 motherboard chipset has yet made it into the stable branch? (Is release 4.9 likely to have it?) I am mainly interested in the IDE and "native" serial ATA devices. There is also a new Intel ethernet controller chip, 82547EI, that is designed to interface directly with the 875P chip. The currently supported chip list only goes up to

[LLVMdev] llvm.org outage
Dear LLVMers, There is some scheduled network outages detailed below that affect the llvm.org servers and LLVM Mailing lists. The LLVM server is housed on the fourth floor. I am not sure which rooms house the mailing list servers. All times are Central Standard Time. If someone from Illinois can distill the relevant parts of this message for LLVM users, I would be most appreciative. I am out
