How would I fix the ones that don't have any replaygain tags, ? have flac and flac123 ogg ogg123 vorbistools and vorbisgain..etc, all installed, can play music fine, but when I hit a song, that doesn't have replaygain tags, need to turn down

R128gain & metaflac
Hi has anyone looked at adding R128gain code to metaflac so we can select to use this calculation for RP tags rather than replay gain? R128gain & metaflac
I mention metaflac because there are a few shell scripts that use it to write RG tags in a flac music library on Linux. With support for Ebu R128 gain in metaflac (the calculation according to specification, not an external program) it would be easy to use, just change the cmd line for metaflac in the script. Now that metaflac supports sample rates higher than 48kHz this would be a good thing in

R128gain & metaflac
>The use of R128 also raises the question about "REPLAYGAIN_REFERENCE_LOUDNESS" >tag. Currently flac/metaflac writes "REPLAYGAIN_REFERENCE_LOUDNESS=89.0 dB" >but doesn't use it when decoding (it seems that nothing uses this tag). >R128 defines reference level differently, so this tag makes little sense for >it. IMHO it's better not to write this tag when

flac --replay-gain
I have FLAC files that I would like to re-encode with --replay-gain. I have my Flac's organized in Artist/Album folders, so I should have no problem getting an album gain/peak per album. Do I need to first de-code the flac's to wav files and then "flac --replay-gain *.wav", or can this be accomplished by going to each Album directory and "flac -f --replay-gain

PATCH: Add test for metaflac --add-replay-gain
Erik ? ? Testing FLAC file with unknown metadata... OK ? ? ./test_metaflac.sh: line 450: syntax error near unexpected token `then' ? ? ./test_metaflac.sh: line 450: `? then' Do both /bin/bash and /bin/dash give exactly the same error message ? Replay-gain
Hello everyone, I'm new to this flac thing (started about a week ago) but I have read a lot about flac and replaygain. As far as I understand it, replaygain is lossless in the sense that I can tell my player to ignore the settings or I can even use foobar2000 to remove the tags entirely, hence getting back to the original audio. If that is the case, why is there a warning in the foobar2000

FLAC 1.3.0 released
There are several links to Windows compiles in the Hydrogenaudio thread for FLAC 1.3.0 at http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=101082 . On Unices or Linuxes building from git should be straightforward enough, or you wait until the distributions/package maintainers catch up. Also, congratulations to the whole development team for reinvigorating FLAC! Christoph On

metaflac problem on cygwin
wow, that was a mighty keen eye - you must really have been looking at it (thanx!) - that is just a typo, the example just above and below that line still show that the issue i'm having exists. an easy test anyone can do is: metaflac --version metaflac --show-sample-rate c:/any.flac metaflac --show-sample-rate /cygdrive/c/any.flac On Dec 13, 2007 5:43 PM, Christopher Brown

Problems in flac-website Git files.
1) changelog.html "Add ability to handle utf8 filenames on Windows (large set of patches from Janne Hyv?rinen)" AFAIK Windows internally uses UTF-16LE, not UTF-8. IMHO it's better to use a general word 'Unicode' instead of 'utf8'. 2) documentation_bugs.html "The following are major known bugs in the current (1.2.1) release:" 1.2.1 is not the current

Support 56kHz to 19.2kHz gain analysis
Copy additional filter values from Foobar2000 as found in <http://code.google.com/p/sirens2/source/browse/trunk/libwavpack-4.32.psp/wvgain.c?r=32> to allow metaflac to perform gain analysis on high sample rate audio. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Tags in files with Unicode BOM
Is there any way for flac or metaflac to support input from files with Unicode Byte Order Marks (BOM)? In command: metaflac --remove-all-tags --set-tag-from-file="CUESHEET=CDImage.cue" --set-tag-from-file="LOGFILE=CDImage.log" CDImage.flac If "CDImage.cue" contains Unicode characters, most text editors append BOM at the 1st line of this file. And metaflac does not

metaflac --remove-all-tags
there something fishy going on, have about 21 flac files, in a folder, and 9 of them still showing meta tag data in juk. When running metaflac --list, show nothing on all 21 files, however in amarok and juk I can still see some info on 9 flac files. Howdoes one fix these flac files? are they corrupted? flac -t came back ok on all Anyone ? Richard

[PATCH] Updating the ReplayGain documentation
In this topic on Hydrogen Audio(http://www.hydrogenaud.io/forums/index.php?showtopic=105586) someone asked a question about the sample rates that FLAC supports for ReplayGain. The outcome was that the current documentation of MetaFLAC is outdated since Commit http://git.xiph.org/?p=flac.git;a=commit;h=0554a4aee6966bc5b251364753ef85de72dfab19 because as of 1.3.0 FLAC supports Replaygain with many

Burn flac to cd
> You don't. Audio CDs don't support ReplayGain tags. The only thing > you may do on Audio CDs is to use Volume Normalize techniques > available on certain programs. Normalization of sound is not a good, > clean thing, though. Surely it would be possible to have something apply the ReplayGain to the WAV after decoding and prior to writing them to CD... but I don't know

PATCH: Add test for metaflac --add-replay-gain
The test is rather simple, and only compares the computed output values for a 1kHz signal at the known filter table sampling frequencies with previously obained golden values. As such, the test only verifies that the performance of the replay gain analyser has not changed. A better test would be to compare the computed value with an independently obtain theorectical value. This is possible by

Updates to metaflac man
Hi Erik, I've noticed a couple small things missing in the metaflac man pages. Namely, the new sample rates provided by Earl Chew as well as the PICTURE block being a valid block type. Attached is a patch for metaflac.sgml and metaflac.1 that details the new sample rates metaflac's replaygain supports. Also, there is now the PICTURE block added as a valid block type. Thanks!

New tags for better transitions between tracks.
Hi All, I've been playing with some new metadata tags for a while and I think I'm ready to share the joy. I've set up a puny webserver at http://phippo.is-a-geek.com/mixramp.html (please don't slashdot it) with some patches to implement and use the tags. The patch for metaflac applies to the current CVS FLAC and adds the command line option --add-mix-ramp. This is a
