special tricks for developers box on centos 5
I was just wondering if there are special tricks people do
that compile A LOT on centos? Do RAM disks help or something else I dont
about that minimizes your compile time? I presently have and AMD x2
4800+ with 2GIG ram.
Just curious if I can reduce any more time out of my compiles.

Hello I'm new and I've got a problem using metaflac
Hollo I'm new, My name is Ariel Arelovich
I've encountered the following problem trying to sue metaflac. I used the
following command:
c:\Archivos de programa\FLAC>metaflac --set-tag-from-file="CUESHEET=sola.cue"
so
la.flac
sola.flac: ERROR: file 'sola.cue' for 'CUESHEET' tag value has embedded NULs
And I've got that error.
See I have the flac that is

FLAC and ID3
Hello,
I heard from a coworker that there was something that changed recently
with FLAC and ID3. I don't have ANY details on what that means, and was
wondering what has changed. The only thing I see (in the changelog) is
that plugins have removed support for ID3 tags.
I'm curious because I have been using ID3 tags with FLAC (I store extra
data such as album art with my media files,

cvs or svn
Hi All;
Which is better (to have more stable or release
versions) of zaptel, libpri and asterisk: to use cvs
or svn?
In case of using cvs, why I need to type:
export
CVSROOT=:pserver:anoncvs:anoncvs at cvs.digium.com:/usr/cvsroot
In other words: what is the use of pserver, anoncvs,
... with cvs checkout?
Note: How can I know all the variables needed for cvs
checkout so I might need to do

cross-compile problems
Hi,
I've successfully compiled flac-1.1.2 to transcode flac to wav with
twonkyvision running on a DNS-323 which has a ARM-processor. The
problem is that from time to time something hangs. Therefore I have
tried to compile the newest flac, flac-1.2.1, and it compiles with no
problems but when running it, for example "flac -t test.flac", it
only echos "Illegal

How can I recreate STREAMINFO metadata?

OK, that's what I thought, but wanted to be sure. I've been updating
some metadata handling routines in our application and heard something
about this and was curious.

stream_encoder metadata callback
Thanks for the quick response on the C++ thing.
It would also be nice if the host program could correctly write the
STREAMINFO block in the stream encoder metadata callback without having
to know the specifics of the header format (or worry about endianness).
How exactly to achieve this might take some thought, but what about this
idea:
1. The correct way to respond to the metadata callback:

How to handle multiple STREAMINFO blocks?
It's certainly best to honor what the specification says. My
assumption is that a "stream" could also be a continuous broadcast,
not just a file. With a hypothetical server streaming FLAC
bitstreams, I would assume that the most recent STREAMINFO is valid
until another one comes along. If you're writing a file player, then
perhaps you can trust the spec and assume

File locking with smbd
Hello,
I have a problem and haven't been able to figure it out yet. I was
running a test of an upload mechanism the product my company makes uses.
The idea is that users can upload files to a share, and we
process/archive those files when they have been added. It would try to
detect if a file is in use, and if that were so, it would skip that
particular file and come back to it

libflac doesn't find more than one metadata block
Hello, I'm currently doing a little music player using libflac and libao. What
I've currently done works as it should, but I have a problem where only one
metadata block is detected, even if there are more (it doesn't have the last
attribute set to true).
This is using flac 1.3.2 on Gentoo amd64.
The main code file is attached, it mainly follows the examples given with the

How to handle multiple STREAMINFO blocks?
I'm writing a program that plays FLAC files using the libFLAC API's.
Is there a specific way I'm supposed to handle multiple STREAMINFO
metadata blocks?
For example, should I ignore all but the first, or all but the last?
The format spec doesn't mention anything.
Thanks,

Decoding error: fingerprint unset in streaminfo block
Using Trader's Little Helper 2.4.1.160 when testing some 16/96 FLAC
files I run into the following error:
"file is decodable without error, but flac fingerprint cannot be
checked since it was unset in the streaminfo block."
Is there an automatic checksum verification when testing/decoding? Is
there any way to fix this, i.e. get rid of the error?

Max Sample Rate FLAC
Hi,
I would like to clear something up about Sample Rate, If the Frame header can look to the metadata block streaminfo for sample rate what (if anything limits it to 655350Hz)? Can all frame headers not just point to streaminfo and it be specified in streaminfo as all 1s ie 2^20-1 = 1,048,575Hz? It would be really good to be able to use 1MHz and beyond for some of my/our work. Does anything

This could be completely ignored by regular audio players - these files are not meant to be listened to anyway. I could probably figure out how to implement that, I even started looking into it once, but
