Hi, A little question : I use two Plextor drives to rip an Audio Cd. All the files are strictly identical in size and content with the two drives...except the last one; they are identical in size, but when comparing their content, I receive a message saying one is more recent! I really don't understand how it's possible, it must be an hardware reason. Once ripped, I convert the two files,

WINAMP & FLAC
Hi, This word for a little problem : when using the Equalizer integrated with Winamp v 5.24, this has no action on FLAC files! With MP3 files, no problem, and when reading FLAC files using the Creative Equalizer, no problems too! Is this a bug in Winamp ? Re: James Chapman FLAC 1.1.2 File Filter for Cool Edit Pro 2
Hello, Different how? When displaying the wave in Cool Edit (it's to say, the FLAC file itself is opened and decoded through the Chapman filter), the audio wave result shows little differences : changes in frequencies at a given time, lower or higher; not many changes, but changes! I attribute this to the filter, because when decoding with your soft, already used for encoding, no problem

James Chapman Flac 1.1.2 File Filter for Cool Edit Pro v2
Hello, Parano?ac? Maybe... When encoding my files in FLAC, and using the Verify option, I do a final test with Cool Edit Pro v2.0, which used a flac.flt file created by James Chapman for Flac v 1.1.2. The problem is that, when decoding a Flac file with the Josh Coalson soft, I obtain the same file, in content in size than the original WAV file, but when opening the FLAC file in Cool Edit (using

[samba-users] Network Pblm with "misty" (XP Home SP3 )
In short this is the problem. The XP Home machine called "misty" cannot see any other machines. It cannot see the Linux machines and it cannot see the XP Home machines or the XP Pro machine. In spite of this blindness it can map to all the XP machines and define so-called network places. But "misty" cannot map through the SAMBA protocal used by the Linux machines to make

dovecot logs to audit.log not to maillog
Hello, I have a curious phenomenon. Dovecot logs normally to /var/log/maillog. If I restart my server, dovecot loggs to /var/log/audit/audit.log. If I restart dovecot, dovecot loggs to /var/log/maillog again. And I think, wenn logrotate is restarting, dovecot logs to audit.log. But I don't know why. Any Ideas? greetings Ralf

ogg decoding without "synchronization"
Hi list, I have an artistic project in which I manipulate streams. At the moment I'm using ogg vorbis streams, Icecast servers and the multimedia puredata software. In this project I would like to read an ogg stream from an icecast server and decode data in the order it is incoming. I would like to skip the step that is reordering the data conforming to the order it was send. Do you know

xenophobe client
I found a problem within my home setup with non-ASCII file/directory names. It may be just a config item for Samba, but Windoze also fails.=20 Situation: A: low power Linux server (mandrake 9.1, samba 2.2.8a-13mdk) containing directory tree where some of the subdirs and files have Chinese (simplified) names. My wife copied them there from her XP notebook, which is a chinese-i-fied Fujitsu,

"smbstatus" reporting strangeness
I've recently added the following line to inetd.conf, to allow clients to connect at Port 445: microsoft-ds stream tcp nowait root /usr/local/sbin/smbd smbd -d 1 That works, but the connections that are started that way produce the machine name "smbd" in the output of "smbstatus". The machines that connect to the main listener (at port 139, started with

Curious
Hello Flac Boys! I've a little thing, without consequences, I try to understand since last evening; I will try to resume it clearly : You must know that I create an NTFS partition, for only coding my CD's in FLAC (for home using) and in MP3 (for car using). My partition inculudes some directories called WAV, FLAC and MP3, amongst others, for personal and paranoiac purposes (double

Browsing problems with Samba 2.0.5 on HP-UX and WinNT4.0SP4
We're *****very happy***** samba users in an environment where: 3 HP-UX 10.20 9000/700 ws act as servers for about 35 Win95/NT clients. Just upgraded to 2-0-5a: much performance for clients with very very low ws load. Great. There is one ws acting as main server offering disks via NFS to the other two, and there is a central samba configuration area where we use the machine name to

Age-period-cohort model
Dear R-list, I think it's really a newbie question but ... I try to model age-period-cohort models with polynoms in each effect. I have for each level of age and period some cases -k- and persons-years -py-. Models are A_xP_y: log(k_age,period/py_age,period)=f(polynom(x),age)+f(polynom(y),period). For exemple I try to adjust an A2P3 :

Intercept by level in GLM
Dear R-listers, I have to explain "y", a continous variable, with two variables "t" and "p" which are "factor variables": t is [1:12] and p is [1:18] (a value for y for each combination t*p). OK, then I try to adjust models like: y=a_p + b*t (I mean as many intercepts as levels of p) or y=a_p + b_p*t (as many intercepts and coefficients for t as levels of

encoder block diagram
I've made block diagram of the encoder because I tried to find out, how it works http://stoffke.freeshell.65535.net/ogg/block.html Although there are specifiation docs, that give very detailed information about single aspects of the encoding (or decoding) , I'm missing documenations that give a more general overview, about how the encoder works. (Vorbis Illuminated seems a bit outdated,

Problems running IsoMDS using vegdist with pres-abs data and two sites with zero distance
Hi I have just (finally) started to poke around in R and wanted to analyse a stream fish dataset with 28 sites and 18 species. When trying to follow the Vegan manual to run nmds from distance measures calculated by the vegdist function it turns out that I have two sites (streams) with the exactly the same four species (I have used pres-abs data in this case). When I try to run isoMDS I get an
