Streaming flac problems!!
Hello,
My name is Vincent and I have some difficulties to realize my project.
Indeed, I must developp a streaming flac client/server and I have some
difficulties to find detailed information about this.
I chose to use the platform Ices/Icecast to do my project. I took the Vorbis
streaming like example but the library has not the same structure as the
flac library.
So , I send this message in

FLAC .ogg fiels & XMMS
I'm using the FLAC v1.0.3 plugin on XMMS v.1.2.7 (RedHat 8.0).
It will play .flac files correctly, but will not play flac compressed
.ogg files. If I rename the .ogg files to .flac, they work fine.
I assume this is an issue with XMMS, but I thought I'd bring it up
here first to see if anyone has experience with this problem.
cheers,
glenn

xmms-mp3
Hi,
I have a (stupid?) problem getting xmms-mp3 added to a CentOS 3.1 desktop:
'xmms' is the distro one, and 'xmms-mp3' comes from Dag Wieers (I used to
use freshrpms on redhat 9, but for some reason freshrpms doesn't do rhel3).
Any ideas?

XMMS plugin: string handling bugs
There are problems in the configure option handling code for http
streaming that was added to the XMMS plugin for 1.1.2.
In configure.c, flac_cfg.stream.proxy_host and other pointers to
strings are initialized with pointers to an empty string "".
Subsequent code in FLAC_XMMS__init() and flac_configurewin_ok()
passes these pointers to g_free(). Since they don't point to memory

thanks
I received this bug report from a Debian user. I can't think of any reason
offhand why the command line tool would work while the xmms plugin would
fail.

Thanks.
After testing the usage of .pls instead of .m3u, couldnt get it to work
any ideas on a workaround?, m3u likes xmms but on winxp windows media likes
m3u and battles winamp
for ownership (typical windows).
Is this (.m3u) an internal mime type for icecast2?

about playlist
I have the icecast with some ices working perfectly in a Linux server,
mp3
files are reproduced with no problems, I'm quite satisfied with it but I
have a little doubt!
When users click the link at the HTML page, their default player (like
xmms,
winamp... etc) doesn't load.
That's how I've made the link:

XMMS FLAC plugin
I posted this problem to the bug tracker a few weeks ago, but never got a
follow-up. I appologize if I missed it, I've been having some email problems
lately.
The problem is that the FLAC 1.0.4 XMMS plugin doesn't work with
XMMS v1.2.7 (as shipped with RedHat 8.0). The FLAC 1.0.3 plugin
works fine.
I think this is the same problem as:

XMMS 1.2.6 package in debian breaks xmms-flac
This is mostly to Matt Zimmerman. The xmms package in unstable was
updated to 1.2.6-1; that's fine.
Then I noticed my XMMS would no longer play FLAC files. I run testing,
not unstable, I thought. What could have happened?
That change was propagated into testing without an xmms-flac update! Huh?
This makes me wonder: xmms-flac 1.0.2-1 should depend on xmms = 1.2.5. I
think because this

xmms-flac security update breaks XMMS' flac-playing ability
Hello,
First post to this group. I've been searching for about a week now to
find anyone who can solve this problem or point me to the solution.
I've been a happy xmms-flac user for 4 years until this week when some
new FLAC security updates came along and completely stopped XMMS from
playing FLACs on my PC. This is most irritating as I have over 3,500
CDs ripped and FLAC'd in

Winamp3 is broken according to some posts here. Try Winamp 2.91 or the
latest XMMS. Of course, XMMS requires the xmms-mp3 libraries.
Try that and see if it helps.

[Flac-users] MD5 digest doesn't match
I can't figure out how to verify flac md5 signatures. The docs say flac
does an md5 over the unencoded audio data, but I can't reproduce it. I'm
using flac 1.0.2 and Ron Rivest's reference md5 implementation.
$ md5 temp.wav
MD5 (temp.wav) = a7c92c4a656b2be2582f77c51b68a623

$ metaflac temp.flac

[Flac-users] Winamp3 plugin built in debug mode?
I just tried installing the flac plugin for Winamp 3, and Winamp reports
that, "This application has failed to start because MSVCRTD.dll was not
found." The fact that it's trying to link against MSVCRTD.dll rather
than MSVCRT.dll suggests that the plugin was built in debug mode; most
Windows installations won't have MSVCRTD.dll unless Visual Studio is
installed.

xmms-flac plugin in OS X - Apple X11
I have been using Apple's X11 on OS X and I got the source and compiled
flac 1.0.5 beta2. Everything seemed to build and install OK, but the
xmms-flac plugin is not working, and I cannot open xmms. I get the
following error when I launch xmms from xterm:
