Album art - requirements
Hi,
there was a thread a few months ago about album art, and how to
embed it in an Ogg stream. The outcome was unconclusive, and kind
of settled on the existing practice of adding a uuencoded image
in a Vorbis comment, or similar.
A better solution would be to embed those images as a separate
stream, including hints as to what image represents (front cover,
back cover, etc). The obvious

How Ogg mappings translate into the codecs parameter in Ogg media types

I was under the impression that 8 was the limit. Thus the extra white
space JM adds on Speex and CELT magics. I may be wrong, though.

To be honest, I just added Theora because I needed a simple way to
multiplex streams. Also, it'd

AW: embedded pictures in vorbis comments?
Hi,
I think we can start by defining an official field name at www.xiph.org/vorbis/doc/v-comment.html which is used as a file system link to an existing image file. I suggest the field name to be "PICTURE".
What is ogg MNG? Is it a container format for PNG files which should be embedded in OGG files?
If I understand correctly, the picture would be placed in a different logical stream

Ogg/Kate preliminary documentation
Hi,
I've now uploaded the preliminary documentation on the xiph wiki:
http://wiki.xiph.org/index.php/OggKate
Attached is the current source tree for the libkate library.
The tarball also contains the patch to oggmerge (which you will need
to apply if you want to merge Kate streams with Vorbis or Theora streams)
and the patch to MPlayer to use Kate streams as subtitles.
An example is

kate and W3C timed text
Hi ogg.k,
I've just been asked what the difference was between Kate and the W3C
timed text format (http://www.w3.org/AudioVideo/TT/) and whether there
was any compatibility. It migjht be a question and answer to add to
the OggKate wiki page.
Cheers,
Silvia.

Christmas tree
Hi,
I've built a christmas tree type of Ogg stream as a kind of torture
test for players. It passes oggz validate, but I had a lot of trouble
to get it right (in particular, the ogg streams to merge had to be
passed in a very specific order on the oggz merge command line
to avoid creating a stream that oggz validate would moan about)
so I'm not confident it's a valid stream, so if

mixing effects when joining videos
Hi,
what is the best way to go about mixing effects when joining two
videos, like crossfading?
Once I have the individual images as numpy arrays, the mixing itself
is the easy part (I'll just use numpy + scipy for that, or any other
python lib). However, it's not clear to me how (and especially when)
to handle decoding and encoding properly.
So lets say I create a video tutorial

Well, it's collection-level metadata, so it doesn't belong in files
at all. :)

It makes sense to reference it per-chain-segment in an Ogg

Ogg is great!! Tools: ffmpeg2theora, oggz
Hi, I just wanted to say that I've recently become a fan off the ogg movie format. I haven't really done much with video before, but I recently got a Canon DSLR which can record HD movies at 30 fps, 720p. The resulting files are great, but too large to share over the web.
After trying a few different encoding tools, I quickly found that ffmpeg2theora is super easy to use, gives good
