Metadata
Hey everyone, according to Wikipedia's 4-year-old information, there is no standard for putting metadata into an Ogg file. That metadata must be included in the codec. For example, what if I want to make a Theora movie and include information about the color space or embed an ICC profile? Or can I include general textual information, like copyright? What about timecode? Brendan

Information about Metadata has been collected together in the Xiph Wiki

Seeking in WebM
Hi everyone, I'm working on a WebM plug-in for Premiere. You probably already know that WebM is a Matroska container that uses Vorbis for audio compression. I'm pretty new to the world of audio compression and need some help. You can see my code here: http://github.com/fnordware/AdobeWebM First of all, I wonder if it's possible to seek to an exact audio sample in WebM. Whereas

Samba and Preallocated Files
A question about capturing videos to a Samba share... When Apple's Final Cut Pro captures video files, it pre-allocates file space on the destination volume. If you capture to a local volume that's physically attached to a Macintosh, or if you capture to a network volume via AFP (Apple File Sharing Protocol), you can see that Final Cut instantly creates a file of the

xen dependencies
It appears that if I perform an install of CentOS 5.1 without changing *anything* in the options, then do a #yum groupinstall 'Virtualization' I can now get Xen to function in bridged mode (it has network connectivity). In lieu of this, can anyone shed some light on what dependency Xen has that is not installed when you do a completely bare install and execute a #yum install xen? I am

Migration?
I just installed ruby, lighttpd, and mysql from darwinports on me laptop in lieu of the Apple version of ruby. Now when I fire up my rails application, it''s not running lighttpd anymore -- it''s running webrick. It also exits immediately. MySQL is running, the database and tables are restored from the backup. What step am I missing? Thanks for the help! Cheers, Hasan

plot data with a colour scale - more details!
Hello again, I am trying to create a color scale plotting the hydroathy index (y-axis) versus residue (x-axis) - each residue (1-100) has a value between 0-1. I've been trying to create a scale where: 0-0.499: increasing intensity of red 0.5- yellow 0.51 - 1 increasing intensity of green. THis is in lieu of a line graph. I'm not sure which type of plot to begin with - I attempted to

Q: Samba4 AD DC & small office file sharing
In lieu of virtualization, I wouldn't be opposed to some small, inexpensive appliance type device (sort of like the Netgate firewalls that run pfsense). I came across the MintBox Mini Pro (http://www.fit-pc.com/web/products/mintbox/mintbox-mini-pro/) Any experience or alternate suggestions? That metadata must be included in the codec. That's correct in that there's no container-level metadata. The 'mapping' specs for various sets of codecs embedded in Ogg describe how metadata is stored. >

Another State Of The Punctuation Mark question - Vonage
There was a flurry of "Vonage is going to unlock SIP" activity last year; did anything productive ever come of it? Are *you* using your Vonage lines directly into Asterisk? In lieu of that, for a 4 line small business that doesn't need to pay Vonage $150 a month, who? Broadvoice? Someone else? I'm a touch unimpressed with the fact that BV's website *won't quote you

Muxing vorbis in WebM
Hi Vorbis-Dev, I'm investigating various WebM/Vorbis bugs in chromium. AFAIK muxing Vorbis inside of WebM does not have an official specification, so I'm using ffmpeg's implementation to try to answer 2 questions: 1. Under what circumstances is it valid to find WebM Blocks containing Vorbis data with zero duration? (This would mean the next Block in the Cluster has the exact

[LLVMdev] Moving data between regs
The short answer is this is not currently done. LLVM register allocator does not currently use a move to a different register class in lieu of spills. This is definitely something we should do in the future. Can you file a bugzilla enhancement request? Yes/No Pedantic Patch
Hello developers. I have made a yes/no 'pedantic' patch that affects how ssh command line and other agents that employ yes/no prompts interpret results. The nature of the patch is the following: When prompted with things like: ----SNIP---- ./ssh localhost The authenticity of host 'localhost (127.0.0.1)' can't be established. RSA key fingerprint is
