Mid-Stream Meta Data Updates for ICEcast
Any News to this question? The clear answer from the ICEcast developers is, that the only proper way to update meta-data (out-of-band) on a continuous/endless ICEcast stream when using any OGG based format (i.e. OGG, FLAC or Opus) is by providing multiple chained streams – one for each logical track change. The odd situation is now, that the standard reference encoders as provided by

MetaData Update for FLAC and OPUS
I am using the standard Xiph.org FLAC encoder, but I couldn't find any option to update the meta-data mid-stream. Also the FLAC spec says, that it defines VORBIS_COMMENT as the only way to transmit meta-data information. This is the only officially supported tagging mechanism in FLAC. There may be only one VORBIS_COMMENT block in a stream. As such, when you state, that meta data is the domain

MetaData Update for FLAC and OPUS
It seems, that with FLAC and OPUS streams (not individual files) the song title (meta data) updates do not work. Also the ICEcast admin web interface isn’t working for FLAC and OPUS; while it is working for MP3, AAC as well as OGG streams. I.e. when sending a continuous FLAC or OPUS stream to an ICEcast server, it seems impossible to update the meta data mid-stream (like it works for MP3, AAC

MetaData Update for FLAC and OPUS
Thanks for your clear answer. I'll try to contact the OGG, FLAC a Opus encoder developers at xiph.org. As it currently seems, that there is no direct support for chained streams on the 'client-side' (encoder side) when using the reference encoders as provided by xiph.org. As such I find it a bit odd to have no 'out-of-the-box' solution available at all. Even if all/you say:

MetaData Update for FLAC and OPUS
I am a software developer myself. We develop a Radio Automation System/Broadcasting. Hence we are using the reference encoders. For OGG there is LUCKILY still the admin interface working to update meta data mid-stream. That is why my post is related to the other ogg based formats: FLAC and OPUS! Tractor Pro is btw not supporting FLAC or OPUS and alao uses the admin update interface! As such

MetaData Update for FLAC and OPUS
Many Thanks for your answer. Actually quite a few 'ifs', 'maybes' or 'shoulds'... ;-) I have tried most of them (except liquidsoap). However, even the mentioned apps like RadioDJ or Mixxx do NOT support meta data changes via the encoder (they all use the admin interface)! And as you correctly pointed out: none of the reference encoders support this. Not even the FLAC, OGG

MetaData Update for FLAC and OPUS
Hi Philipp, While you might logically/theoretically be right with what you say, it is not really practical and unfortunately not user friendly. Let me try to explain my standpoint: Most users do use ICEcast to stream a continuous stream, e.g. they stream a live DJ or radio program. I.e. they setup a single encoder on a single audio stream. Still this logical stream contains different tracks being

mid-side coding and bits per sample
Dear list, i'm doing a bit of analisys on flac's source code and i've run into something i can't quite grasp. flac version 1.2.1 flaclib C stream_encoder.c function "process_subframes_" line 2999 ++++++++++++++++++++++ if(do_mid_side) { FLAC__ASSERT(encoder->protected_->channels == 2); for(channel = 0; channel < 2; channel++) {

As previously noted this does not do what you may think it does and its use for Ogg/Vorbis is discouraged by us.

you can try tracktor pro and see how it streams. cause it handles it well: track's info updates in ogg without rupture.. regards renan waves.pw On 15/08/2019 20:48, bn at radio42.com wrote: > Many Thanks for your answer. > > Actually quite a few 'ifs', 'maybes' or 'shoulds'... ;-) > I have tried most of them (except liquidsoap). > However, even the

[Flac-users] What is "mid-side coding"?
Hi all! I've just gotten into the FLAC world, and have read most of the documentation. I have a question: Mike Wren's frontend, upon looking at the DOS command line it automatically generates, uses the "-m" command. This is for "mid-side coding for each frame". What is this? Specifically, is this like the mid-side recording technique? If so, that means the

Meta Data for opus and FLAC do not work
Hi, I try to find out how to update the meta data on a flac or opus stream. Look like its not support this formats. And update interface do not work. Is there a solution to make this work? [PATCH special] vtpm fix cmake dependency
Ian, this one is special just for you. I''m sending it as an attachment because my email client will mangle it. This patch will remove the cmake dependency from xen prior to autoconf stubdom This patch applies ontop of [VTPM v7 3/8] vtpm/vtpmmgr and required libs to stubdom/Makefile You can apply it to your tree by doing the following: git rebase -i <VTPM v7 3/8 revision>

mid stream sample rate changes
Hi All. Does Opus support mid-steam sample rate changes? For example if I have an audio stream which consists of 1 minute of 8Khz audio, then 10 seconds of 32Khz audio, then 2 minutes of 8Khz audio, can this be encoded in a single Opus stream which the decoder will understand? If not, are there any plans for implementing this? Cheers Philip

Recording/Monitoring a call mid-stream?
Is there a way to monitor a call mid-stream? I did look on the Wiki and found that AstGUI can do it, but it's a bit of an overkill. What I want is for a customer service rep, sitting in front of a Cisco 7960, to be able to hit a button (either on their phone, or maybe a specific webpage) that will start recording the call from that point on. I'm thinking the services button on the
