Ogg Flac padding
A program to do something I don't think can be done? Tricky.
How about some examples of files that show problems?
Here is a basic OggFlac track, as produced by the standard flac encoder. It
has a vorbis comment packet, a seektable packet, and a padding packet and works
fine. Note that each packet is on a separate Ogg page.

64-bit FLAC structure sizes and padding
Erik, thanks for the swift answer. Your right, I haven't seen any issues
yet. But it a thought stroke me when implementing edit capabilities of FLAC
vorbis comments. I've already implemented reading vorbis comments from FLAC
files in 64-bit and it works without any issues. This now leave me a bit
confused, since it should have issues(!).

[Flac] Ogg Codecs 0.80.15035
Hi all,
I've made a test release for Ogg DirectShow Codecs.
You can find it here:
http://www.xiph.org/dshow/uploads/Main/oggcodecs_0.80.15035.exe
The problem is that I get a HEAP Corruption detected at:
void FLAC__bitreader_free(FLAC__BitReader *br)
{
FLAC__ASSERT(0 != br);
if(0 != br->buffer)
free(br->buffer);
The call stack is:

Bug: flac --replay-gain thinks that I used --no-padding
If I use flac to encode with the --replay-gain
option, I get a warning about the --no-padding
option...
"NOTE: --replay-gain may leave a small PADDING block even with --no-padding"
...even though I'm not using --no-padding. And the
file does end up with a small padding block, so
changing tags is slow.
I'd fixed this bug in my own copy of flac 1.1.4,
but forgot to submit the

Developing SoundFont FLAC compressor using libFLAC
Its been a while since I was discussing a SoundFont compressor based on
FLAC. I've recently implemented the compressor using an application
metadata block with the ID 'SFFL' that I registered, which contains my
own header and a block of zlib (gzip) compressed SoundFont info. The
audio chunk (a block of consecutive 16 bit signed samples separated by
46 zero samples) is then encoded with

Encoder example for 24-bit files
Hi,
In the last days I've been taking as reference the example found in
examples/c/encode/file/main.c. With it I've been able to encode a 2ch,
16 bps, 44100 sample rate input WAV file to a FLAC file.
Now I've been trying to modify this example to encode a 2ch, 24 bps,
96000 sample rate WAV file. I have to say I'm a bit lost on how I
should read the input file in this case, and

two problems with flac and ices 0.4 build
i'm trying to build ices0.4 and vorbis-tools 1.0.1 with flac 1.1.1.
Neither seems happy, hence the crossposting (sorry).

ices refuses to see the libFLAC library, even if i specify

configure script seems to look in the lib and include subdirectories of
the specified path?). i get a configure error:

FLAC example compilation

If you want to compile some other code against libflac, you also need
to install libflac-dev.
However, the code you posted a link to does not compile on it's own,
it requires other code in the source code tarball.

No total samples in OGG/FLAC file
libFLAC 1.1.2
I'm using an OggFLAC_seekable_stream_encoder to create an OGG/FLAC
file. I'm seeing that the STREAMINFO is not being written when the
encoder is finished. I'm seeing that, for whatever reason, although
the previously written data is read back in, simple_ogg_page__get_at
() is failing when checking the CRC at the end of the function. As
far as I know, I have

LVM and ext3 filesystem question
Can someone please explain what the purpose of stride is on ext3? I have
been "googling" this for hours and wasn't really able to understand the
underlying concepts. How does it fit with LVM, PV create's metablock size,
and hardware RAID controller?
TIA

Flac metadata feature
I found a "feature" or a bug in metaflac (and possibly libflac) metadata
handling.
If you try to add some tags to file, and padding field is not big enough,
padding size doesn't get increased automaticly, so you receive an error
about corrupted file (tried both with foobar2k and metaflac).
But if you previously add more padding with "--add-padding=", everything

Building a Rice Encoder/Decoder from FLAC
Hi all,
I am interested in building a stand alone Rice Encoder/Decoder, using FLAC
source code as a starting point. I've read the theory behind it, and I am
very interested in info theory. However, I am struggling with how exactly
I would implement the theory in code. I'm a newbie to computer science
(only 1 year experience). I have read the format and documentation links on

[Flac-users] error: FLAC required!
Hi everybody!
I'm in trouble again, could you help me?
This time I can't get deal with "flac-tools" and other programs that use
libFLAC. They just refuse compiling and complain for some functions indefinition.
I have flac-1.0.4 already installed with ordinary: ./configure && make && make install.
Read down for the details please.
