flac-dev Digest, Vol 101, Issue 27
I'd love to fix the .Xcodeproj (which is what they're called now) but I
don't have a clue how to, if I were to figure it out would you guys accept
it, or is it not worth my time?
btw, someone on Windows should get the visual studio files working, it
always complains about not finding nasm.exe.

Replay-gain
Hello everyone, I'm new to this flac thing (started about a week ago) but I have read a lot about flac and replaygain. As far as I understand it, replaygain is lossless in the sense that I can tell my player to ignore the settings or I can even use foobar2000 to remove the tags entirely, hence getting back to the original audio.
If that is the case, why is there a warning in the foobar2000

ReplayGain support for Vorbis
Hello all,
I'm glad to announce to you that Vorbis now has full
ReplayGain support. If you're not familiar with ReplayGain,
take a look at www.replaygain.org. The main features are:
a) all songs play back with equal loudness
b) removes the need for normalization
c) allows for clipping prevention
Using it is very simple. Get a compatible decoder (ogg123,
XMMS and WinAmp all support it

flac-dev Digest, Vol 101, Issue 28
Well, I'm bored, and I hope I'm not getting in the way of anyone, but I was
like hell might as well try to make a new Xcode project, although I am
using 10.8 with the latest xcode, so I'd have to manually remove that, but
there is one serious concern, and that's that header files are being called
from 1 directory up from where they are, for example:
"share/compat.h"

Burn flac to cd

Surely it would be possible to have something apply the ReplayGain to
the WAV after decoding and prior to writing them to CD... but I don't
know

Yes, HAVE_SYS_PARAM_H is set in config.h:

About de Bruijn sequences in bitmath.h
Found this code: ftp://ftp.samba.org/pub/unpacked/ntdb/lib/ccan/ilog/ilog.c
Tests show that it's faster to use the following code in FLAC__bitmath_ilog2_wide():
static const unsigned char DEBRUIJN_IDX32[32]={
0, 1,28, 2,29,14,24, 3,30,22,20,15,25,17, 4, 8,
31,27,13,23,21,19,16, 7,26,12,18, 6,11, 5,10, 9

Vorbis & ReplayGain
Hi all,
I have implemented ReplayGain support for Vorbis.
If you are not familiar with it, it is basically
a method of making sure all your files have equal loudness,
remove the need for normalization and prevent clipping
during playback. The process is totally lossless,
and supporting it requires minimal work.
More info about the exact workings can
be found on www.replaygain.org (recommended

Hi Martjn, and everyone,
Apologies if I have missed the reply, but I think I have not got any comment so far on this. That means our new ID request is accepted? What should I do next to proceed?? Apparently this is my first time here, so appreciate any advice assistance.
Best regards,
Taku

Fwd: Metaflac UTF-8 fixes
Ooops? I accidently sent a reply privately instead of to the list,
sorry for that.
Here it is again, this time hopefully to the list:

FLAC currently won't compile for Android [bisected]
Hi,
I couldn't figure out how to file a bug in the bugtracker at sourceforge.
So I send a report this way.
Building FLAC from git for Android fails with the following message:
utils.c: In function 'get_console_width':
utils.c:181:17: error: storage size of 'w' isn't known
utils.c:181:17: warning: unused variable 'w' [-Wunused-variable]

PATCH for replaygain_synthesis
The file src/share/replaygain_synthesis/include/private/fast_float_math_hack.h
redefines 'tanh' as 'tanhf'. This file is intended for Intel Compiler only,
but it includes outdated mathf.h and doesn't work with current versions of ICC.
The fixes are trivial though, and I compiled 2 versions of flac.exe: with this
'hack' turned off an on. The difference in decoding speed

ahh nevermind
The new flac frontend has a "Replaygain" option enabled by default.
Kinda foolish to have this on by default if it butchers the sound like
this. I can understanding the need to normalize when batch encoding
but on a per-album basis and file basis rather silly.
--replay-gain Calculate ReplayGain values and store in Vorbis

PATCH for replaygain_synthesis
flac.exe crashes if I try to decode multichannel flac file
with RG tags using the following command line:
flac.exe -d --apply-replaygain-which-is-not-lossless test_6ch.flac
The code in replaygain_synthesis project uses FLAC_SHARE__MAX_SUPPORTED_CHANNELS
which is equal to 2. The fix just changes 2 to FLAC__MAX_CHANNELS.

vorbis-tools release soon?
Since it's been almost 2 years since vorbis-tools 1.2.0 was released,
would it be reasonable to see 1.3.0 soon? There are plenty of changes
in there that deserve to see the light of day - the ReplayGain support
in ogg123 and the vcut fixes in particular have my attention.

FLAC 1.3.0 released
There are several links to Windows compiles in the Hydrogenaudio thread
for FLAC 1.3.0 at
http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=101082 .
On Unices or Linuxes building from git should be straightforward enough,
or you wait until the distributions/package maintainers catch up.
Also, congratulations to the whole development team for reinvigorating FLAC!
