MRTG drop/reject hits
I have created shell script for MRTG statistics of droped/rejected packets:
ftp://slovakia.shorewall.net/mirror/shorewall/mrtg/
http://slovakia.shorewall.net/pub/shorewall/mrtg/
rsync://slovakia.shorewall.net/shorewall/mrtg/
example: http://slovakia.shorewall.net/pub/shorewall/mrtg/example/
It is not based on /var/log/messages (syslog), but iptables counter.
A lot of packets are droped/rejected

I'm trying to run FTP server behind firewall. And i can't enable passive

For now i have configured port forwarding and ftp server itself.
On the router:

rsync as a remote file system protocol?
Does anyone know of an existing facility to access a remote
rsync server as a virtual filesystem through gnome-vfs, FUSE, lufs, or
similar that supports listing the contents of directories?
I have already a bunch of web searches, looked through
http://fuse.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/FileSystems, checked my
/usr/lib/gnome-vfs-2.0/modules/, and checked the list of available KDE
kio slaves on

Shorewall.net running on temporary server
While I rebuild my server, shorewall.net is running on an old slow
system. This affects:
lists.shorewall.net
shorewall.net
ftp1.shorewall.net
www1.shorewall.net
I encourage you to avoid these systems until the new server is ready.
Thanks,

shorewall.net down time
Today I am having a new DSL line installed. Once the line is in and
operational, I will be moving my local network from the old line to the
new; I am expecting minimal down time (an hour or two) but as those of
you who have been involved in such things know, there is no way of
knowing what disasters are going to happen.
Services impacted will be:

Upgrade Disaster
Today I upgraded my server to RH9.0. For some unexplained reason, while I
was applying updates from RedHat the server crashed and now my RPM database
is toast ("rpm -q glibc" says that glibc isn''t installed and rpm -qa
generates 100''s of error messages; this is after an ''rpm --rebuilddb'').
Tomorrow morning, I will be backing up my server and

Problems corrected in 3.0.6
1) A typo in the output of "help drop" has been corrected.

large files not being synced properly while being uploaded to samba share
Hello,
I have run into an issue with rsync that I?m hoping someone can help with.
We are using rsync to mirror data between a samba share on an internal
staging server and our production ftp servers. The rsync runs from cron
every 15 minutes. Occasionally, the rsync will run while somebody is
uploading a large file to the samba share (for instance an iso image). The
file appears to make

ruby on rails international & BIRT integration?
Hello,
I see, that Rails is quite english-centric. I am developing some webs,
that are not primarily in English. I have a few questions:
- besides turning of plurals, what should I take care? How to use utf-8
for all data and converting it from local charsets to utf-8?
- how do I make my page multilingual (i.e. adding english support
later)? Is there something like gettext support? Is

how to identify the outliers
Hello R-users,
Is there any more sophisticated way how to identify the dataset
outliers other then seeing them in boxplot? I wanna exclude them from
further analysis and I am interested in their position in my vector
data.

ISDN (isdn4linux) DDI
Hello all,
does anybody have experiences with DDI on ISDN BRI? I would like to
order DDI with 10 or 100 numbers from telco company, and use DDI
numbers for direct calling SIP/H323 clients. But I don't know if
Asterisk supports it, in archive I found only one answer about it, and
I'm not sure. I am going to use it with isdn4linux card.
Maybe DDI is called differently in other countries,

Shorewall FAQ Wiki Online, nearly complete...
Hello,
Mike Noyes and myself have populated http://wiki.rettc.com with the
shorewall FAQ.
This wiki is running MediaWiki, http://www.mediawiki.org.
Currently, a couple items are not complete.
I have just begun a heavy semester of mathematics/physics studies, and
do not have much time to give to this.
But, it is online, and seems to be stable. I will keep an eye out for
abuse, and limit

FAQ Wiki
It has been asserted that the use of CVS for maintaining the Shorewall
documentation has been a barrier to community participation. To test this
theory, Alex Martin has created a Wiki
(http://wiki.rettc.com/wiki.phtml?title=Wiki_Shorewall_FAQ) and with
the help of Mike Noyes Alex has populated the Wiki with the Shorewall FAQ.
Feedback is welcome.
