Question about "generic" USB <=> Serial Port kernel drivers...
OK, I am running CentOS 6 on my Laptop and Desktop, presently kernel version 2.6.32-696.20.1.el6.x86_64 (yes, a version or so out of date -- I'll probably do an update soon -- non-trivial since my Internet connection is via dialup). I recently bought a couple of Adafruit Arduino compatibles, a Flora and a Metro 328. Hooking up the Flora and the Metro to a Raspberry Pi running Raspbian

Why was my R process killed spontaneously?
I tried to use gpuCor function in the gputools package of R to calcuate the pairwise correlations of a matrix of 40,000 columns. Becuase there would be memory issues if I use the whole matrix at a time, I splitted the matrix into submatrix of 10,000 columns and then calculate the pairwise correlation of different submatrices. There are altogether 4 submatrices, so I need to calculate the pearson

Adding entry breaks index
Our ferret 0.10.13 index has been slowly growing on our debian server and has just got up over 14,000 records. Yesterday I randomly noticed that one search I did was suddenly giving whack, unexpected results. I have spent much time trying to track the problem. Tried ferret 0.10.9 - no change. Tried on a windows machine - where it works fine, and doesn''t give weird results (which just

Fit indexes in SEM with categorical data + ML estimation
Hello, It has been found that SEM analysis using polychoric correlations + maximum likelihood estimator produces incorrect test statistics and standard errors (e.g., Flora, D. B., & Curran, P. J. (2004). An Empirical Evaluation of Alternative Methods of Estimation for Con?rmatory Factor Analysis With Ordinal Data. Psychological Methods, 9(4), 466-491). Standard errors can be dealt with by

Two possible vulnerabilities?
Dear all, Browsing through the securityfocus vulnerability database I found two items, that might interesting for the FreeBSD community: 1. GNU GNATS Syslog() Format String Vulnerability http://www.securityfocus.com/bid/10609 GNATS is vital part of the PR handling of FreeBSD. I think security officers should contact developers of GNU GNATS about this issue to resolve the potential problem.

Building Stand-Alone NT Installer. Need Advice on File Structure. Thank you!
-- Hello Everyone, I am trying to build a stand-alone installation application of OpenSSH 4.1p1-1. The target of this project is the NT platform (NT/00/XP/03). I've met with success and am happy so far with the progress. I cross-checked all executables and DLL's for dependencies. All executables and DLL's should truly stand-alone (dependent on nothing outside the enclosed tree).

Asterisk's MultiProcessor Ability
We have asterisk running on a quad processor dell. The kernel has been compiled with SMP. However, asterisk seems to only use 1 processor. 3 of the 4 always stay at 100% idle. Is it pointless to have a multi-proc machine? I was going to buy a new dual 3.6Ghz Xeon server but if nothing will take advantage of the other proc... Perhaps my conception of multi-proc/threaded is warped. If asterisk is

Sipura 3000 dialing "noise"
Hi all, We have several sipura 3000's working well for outbound calls, however the issue we have is that when calls are sent to the Sipura with Dial(SIP/${EXTEN:0}@sipura1) the Sipura does a SIP answer immediately and then proceeds with the call "in band" therefore sending dialing sounds back to the caller. Other SIP gateways we have notably the Vegastream and others do not do a SIP

As Kevin Fleming says "So long, and thanks for all the fish!", we say thank you - and look to the future
It's amazing what you can learn in a few days... Having just found out that Queen Elizabeth has a great sense of humor, it has now emerged that Kevin Fleming - a man who (both with and without his moustache) has been an amazing contributor and influencer in the Asterisk project is set to move on to a new challenge outside the project - but still within the realms of Open Source. Kevin has
