Two GCC warnings flags you should enable ASAP

Sorry, I don't want to seem too pushy on this issue, but I consider -Wmissing-prototypes a really important issue. It bit me really badly once and has been a hobby horse of mine ever since. The reason its important is that in C (C++ is a different matter which I'll explain

For or Against
As a librarian and a father, I have both a professional and a parental interest in democracy and access to information. In addition to democracy, libraries and education are related to other concerns. For example, our physical and mental health is critical to our ability to learn and to process information fully. Suppose a worldwide referendum was held on a proposal for single-payer global

speeding up likelihood computation
R Users: I am trying to estimate a model of fertility behaviour using birth history data with maximum likelihood. My code works but is extremely slow (because of several for loops and my programming inefficiencies); when I use the genetic algorithm to optimize the likelihood function, it takes several days to complete (on a machine with Intel Core 2 processor [2.66GHz] and 2.99 GB RAM). Centos 8 Mate?
Without wanting to sound too pushy, I'm wondering if there is any update on the status of Mate now that Centos 8 has been released? I would love to jump on C8 and start playing with it, but the lack of Mate is kind of a showstopper for me at the moment. -- MELVILLE THEATRE ~ Real D 3D Digital Cinema ~ www.melvilletheatre.com

Tests fail
Hi all, Its been a while since I last compiled FLAC from source, but I just grabbed flac-1.1.3-beta2.tar.gz compiled it and then ran "make check" which resulted in this: =================== 3 of 7 tests failed =================== Is this OK? Help required
Hi Sadaf, Out of curiosity, what sorts of things have you tried to fix this? For example, after playing around with this a bit, if I remove your "eps" parameter from your `ranges` list, it works. Perhaps you should try tweaking the values you pick for your parameters. You don't even have to put it in the `tune` function to get an idea of the ranges you should use: R>

[LLVMdev] dynamic linkage for jit
Hi, I want to execute functions in a module, this module will have dependencies resolved in other modules. the modules might change (dynamic compilation environment) so i would prefer not not link all the dependencies in a single monolithic module, that is, if it can be avoided I hope to use Linker::linkModules but this is always destructive. That is ok for one module depending on a single one,

Building a UK based e-commerce store in rails
I have built a few sites with Rails, however I have been approached by a company wanting an e-commerce / online shop built. I would love to build one in rails with the knoweledge I now have. I have the agile book and the pickaxe book they are my reference guide. However there is virtually nothing on creating real world e-commerce sites in rails. They will be selling to both businesses and the

[LLVMdev] dynamic linkage for jit
Hi Charllls, I didn't really get it. Are you saying that you would execute some functions using the JIT then, later, those functions will be modified and thus need to be re-jitted? Ciao, Duncan. 4.2 upgrade and kernels
Just curious about kernel requirements after the upgrade. I've been running the 2.6.9-11.106.unsupported kernel for some time. Now I see that the base kernel is up to 2.6.9-22.EL. Are there any plans to upgrade the unsupported kernel? Should I be using the newer kernel after the upgrade? Does it make any difference? Not trying to be pushy; just looking for information. Thanks for all the
