An idea
A recent request to provide a way to block access to certain websites (ba=

ads) led me to an idea.
a) A new directory /etc/shorewall/lists
b) In this directory, are files containing lists of IP addresses and/or=20
subnets
c) a new JUMP rule:
=09JUMP:list1=09loc=09net=09tcp=09http
d) By default, matching in the list would be by destination address and i=

dell says bye bye to Linux
Well. A priori. I'm a dedicated legacy OS person. I cut my teeth on
command line DOS and then WIN 3.xx (these days that means WFWG 3.11). I drew
the line at WIN9x. Hate that beast with a true passion, but because it is
the 800 pound gorilla, I have to find some way to accomodate it in the
future.
So, here is the rub. Linux is a real PITA. Capital PITA. Unbelievably techie
and that is bad.

RE: [Shorewall-users] SMTP outbound problem (fwd)
I think we should add an FAQ entry for tcp_ecn.
I remember Tom giving a good description in one of his many responses
and there is mention of it in the pptp page, but I could not find the
response from Tom about different tcp stacks.
Thanks,

Asterisk + Patton ISDN2e gateway (UK)
I know I asked this some time back, and I got no response then, and
neither did someone who asked at the start of 2009 either by the looks of
it (other than a reply from me to use a PCI card!!!)
However I now have a client who'd bought one of these boxes and installed
ISDN2e - against my advice (because I got no feedback here, therefore
they're junk with asterisk, right?)

Dear r heper,
How can I change the strip text, for example (16,23] in the following

help overlay scatterplot to effects plot
I have a process where I am creating a effects plot similar to the cowles effect example. I would like to add the point estimates to the effects plot, can someone show me the correct syntax. I have included the "R" effects example, so you can show me the correct syntax. Thanks

umask and nautilus/gnome
Hi,
Does anyone know how to set umask such that nautilus actually obeys it? I
have umask 002 added to the end of .bashrc, and if I touch a file from a
gnome terminal, I correctly get -rw-rw-r--. However if I right click in a
nautilus window and "create document" then "empty file" I end up with
-rw------ which is obviously going to be a royal pita for group working!

1.0rc3 problem w/ Thunderbird 1.5.0.5 on Mac OS X
Howdy,
I'm very excited about the new dovecot release because I've been having
problems with a hang on saving messages to my sent-mail box over imap+ssl.
I installed 1.0rc3 over my 1.0rc2 install on FreeBSD 5.3 in the same
manner as all the other upgrades I've done. After checking my email,
tbird became nonresponsive and I saw this repeating in my logs ad infinitum:

[OT] spandsp hylafax asterisk and confusion
This really only seems practical in a corporate environment however, I would
suggest decoupling the creation of faxable material from the act of
transmitting it.
First use CUPS/Samba to create a 'print to PDF' printer
(http://www.google.ca/search?q=samba+pdf+printer)
Second use an LDAP to look up to return the email address of the submitter
of the job and send them the resulting PDF

NT_STATUS_IO_TIMEOUT
Samba occasionally fails with the following. I have seen many questions
regarding this but no answers unfortunately. I am wondering what the
setting is where I can increase this time out value of 10000
milliseconds in case that specific request is just slow. This is called
many times a day and only just occasionally fails.
I have looked through the entire manual for smb.conf and can't find a
