configure.in aclocal.m4 patch against CVS
The attached unified diff fixes configure so that all --with-libfoo options
are allowed to be --with-libfoo=PATH. If the option is specified with a
PATH, only that PATH is searched for the library. If it is specified as
=yes or with no argument, it tries without modifying anything, and then
tries looking in /usr/local. The SunOS5 targets no longer add /usr/local to
include or library paths

I just built this and it has a lot of complaints about underquoted macros
in aclocal. Red Hat refers developers to this reference:

[PATCH] modernize configure.ac, update gnulib macros and add the havelib module, remove aclocal.m4
For the next patch which I am about to submit (liblongpath integration), I
thought I we should have the autoconf havelib macros from gnulib
(AC_LIB_HAVE_LINKFLAGS).
AC_LIB_HAVE_LINKFLAGS would also be useful to facilitate linking to other
external libraries (popt, zlib) where they are installed outside the default
search path.
To avoid a dependency on gnulib (which would, IIUC, require more

need help with libtool/aclocal error
I'm trying to build an executable for a program I wrote. The
compilation steps go well, but the linking step fails with a libtool
"version mismatch" error. My linking command has this prefix:
/path/to/R/bin/R CMD LINK gcc -g -std=gnu99 ... etc.
The error looks like this:
libtool: Version mismatch error. This is libtool 2.2, but the
libtool: definition of this LT_INIT comes from

Fink's vorbis-tools patch
Thought this might be useful to at least consider being included in 1.0.1.
It adds, among other things (maybe), an endian variant of AIFF-C.

Fwd: Re: 2.2 release imminent.
Okay, I sent this a while back, and the current source still exhibits all
the previous errors. Is there a chance this can be fixed? Even fixing the
check for dn_expand in resolv.so would help ...

New chroot patch, for 2.1.1p4
Hi there, everybody;
As promised, here's the new version for my chroot patch.
It applies cleanly over OpenSSH 2.1.1p4, and I'm attaching 2 versions:
- openssh-2.1.1p4-chroot.patch-wc, is the chroot patch plus
a "--with-chroot" patch for the "configure" script.
- openssh-2.1.1p4-chroot.patch, is the same without the
"--with-chroot" part.
Have fun,

2.2.0p1 chroot patch
Hi there, everyone;
Attached to this mail is the 2.2.0p1 version of my chroot patch.
For those of you interested, my usual warning: This is NOT plug&pray.
You'll have to build a whole binaries/libs/conf files tree within the new
root. (it's just like the "classic" anonymous ftp behaviour)
Configure with "configure --with-chroot" to use.
Regards;

AIX openssh patches
I have a few patches for AIX. The patchfile is attached below. The patch
has been tested on AIX4.2 and AIX4.3. The patch is on openssh-1.2.1pre25,
with openssl-0.94, using RSAref.
1) authenticate support - this function allows the system to determine
authentification. Whatever the system allows for login, authenticate
will too. It doesn't matter whether it is AFS, DFS, SecureID, local.

HDF5 as a module
--=-=-=
Included below are:
1) Diffs to to remove HDF5 from R
2) Diffs to pass thru --with-* options to a module's configure
script during "R INSTALL". (To reiterate a plea for this
capability...) This applies only to Unix, the Windows (mingw32 in
my case) build approach of passing in make variables like
*-CFLAGS and *-LDFLAGS works fine. The only hitch
