Decode questions
Sorry, to interrupt the license flame war... I downloaded the source from CVS as of 11am this morning and there are a couple of issues that I ran into: 1) I built the package and then in the examples dir I executed the following commands: # cdparanoia -B 1-1 # ./encoder-example < track01.cdda.wav > test.vor # ./decoder-example < test.vor > out.wav The rip and the encode both work

Audacious broken on CentOS 7.6
Hi, Looks like the Audacious audio player from EPEL (which has worked fine in previous versions) is broken under CentOS 7.6. It refuses to start, and when I try to start it from the command line, here's what I get. [microlinux at bernadette:~] $ rpm -qa | grep audacious audacious-3.9-1.el7.x86_64 audacious-libs-3.9-1.el7.x86_64 audacious-plugins-3.9-1.el7.x86_64 [microlinux at bernadette:~]

patch for title(?) segmentation fault
oggenc -b 128 -d 1985 -N 01 -t "Black Planet" -l "First and Last and Always" -a "Sisters of Mercy" track01.cdda.wav egs in free in simple_utf8_encode. I tracked it down to a mis-calculated buffer size for malloc. I've attached the patch that fixes it (for me:). The only problem I have with the rest of the code is figuring out how the terminating 0 (null,

ReplayGain support for Vorbis
Hello all, I'm glad to announce to you that Vorbis now has full ReplayGain support. If you're not familiar with ReplayGain, take a look at www.replaygain.org. The main features are: a) all songs play back with equal loudness b) removes the need for normalization c) allows for clipping prevention Using it is very simple. Get a compatible decoder (ogg123, XMMS and WinAmp all support it

Vorbis Encoding Problems
I downloaded all the Beta 4 libraries/tools yesterday and compiled them - everything went fine. ogg123 works fine - it plays files off the website. So does the XMMS plugin (I just built XMMS and had it build the vorbis plugin that it came with) oggenc seems to work fine, in that all of its output looks normal: [ttyp3@dalek:tear-require-0.2.0/CDDB_get-1.4 @00:39] oggenc track03.cdda.wav

Encoding Options
I have read FLAC's "--help", the man-page, and the HTML documentaion, but there are a few things that I don't understand. 1. I'll start with the thing I'm most confused about. The --best option is synonymous with -l 12 -b 4608 -m -e -r 6. Why is that? Is not -l 32 better that l- 12? And you can have -r 0,8 without using --lax, and -r 0,16 with --lax. 2. The --lax option

[C6] Some typical apps missing?
Hi everyone! :-) I just installed CentOS 6 on one of my desktop machines, and yum now tells me that some of my favorite apps are not present in any of the repositories I configured. To name a few: ktorrent, kile, krusader, pavucontrol, mplayerplug-in (or is it now gecko-mediaplayer), xine, xmms, and so on... All these apps were readily available for C5, and I used them happily. I am mostly

xmms and icecast2
hi, I was wondering if anyone can help me. At the moment I am finishing off a project that is more or less a stream management system, kind of like a web jukebox with a time-based scheduling facility and several other 'radio-like' features... I am using xmms-shell to control the replay of ogg files. I also use noxmms to kill the gui of xmms so I can run the application from a remote

Serious bug in FLAC
As far as I can tell I've found a serious bug in the command line flac encoder :( I have created many hundreds of flac files and I was very annoyed to discover that the XMMS flac plug-in had intolerably long seek times, but since that had been mentioned on this list a bunch of times without anyone actually investigating, I thought I had better actually find the BUG which causes this. 1. continuous play between tracks
hello, i noticed that when i play flac files with xmms there is a gap between tracks, even on a continuous cd. is this supposed to happen? i thought that the file format was suppose to allow continuous playback. my first thoughts were that the program i used to rip (cdparanoia) was to blame. i uncompressed the flac to wav and spliced it together only find it playing correctly. my next
