Ogg Squish 0.98?
Nevermind - I found it. No, it does not use Ogg encapsulation, but it does compile right off the bat. This lists itself as version 98.9, I'm guessing that means 0.98.9. If someone has a newer version, please let me know. :-) http://www.mit.edu/afs/sipb/user/mwhitson/Project/Ogg/ogg9-partial.tgz Woohoo! Vintage Xiph from 1996! What could be better? "glm" function question
I am creating a model attempting to predict the probability someone will reoffend after being caught for a crime. There are seven total inputs and I planned on using a logistic regression. I started with a null deviance of 182.91 and ended up with a residual deviance of 83.40 after accounting for different interactions and such. However, I realized after that my code is different from that in

Rsync Permission Issues
Hi all, I'm new to rsync and have a problem I cannot resolve even after plowing through the lists. I have an rsync server setup with an rsync client. I am trying to backup a directory structure that is over four levels deep. Rsync does great until it hits that fourth level. Then it errors out for each file in that fourth level similar to this: rsync: recv_generator: mkdir

alert function, V2
I guess the alert function is not part of the spec, because it appears to be unimplemented in Dovecot, even though most clients implement it. Timo, I would hope this would be easy to implement, and it's functionality that will be valuable to every installation. Here's why. America recently had the tragedy of a shooting rampage on a large university campus (yes, America should do

description method and test failures
Hi all, Hoping you can help. I have a project using rspec 1.1.3 and rails 2.0.2. I''ve run into a small problem. Said project has a method in application_helper.rb named "description". Whenever a spec test fails, I see a message like so: *snip*/vendor/plugins/rspec/lib/spec/runner/reporter.rb:37:in `description'': wrong number of arguments (0 for 2)

The law in France (Code P?nal, article 227-24) states that a public network is not allowed to broadcast messages containing violence, pornography or any content contrary to basic human dignity, which is theoretically punishable with three years of prison or a 75.000 ? fee. render_to_string in a controller test?
Hi all, I know that in general, view and controller tests should be isolated, such that controller specs don''t test views etc. However, I think I''ve run into a situation that might be an exception. My controller uses render_to_string to produce a chunk of HTML that it passes to a model to be processed. The controller then redirects the user to a different page. The

Bad mime type reported for flac file
Hi all, It has recently come to my attention that the linux "file" utility reports some (but not all) of my flac files as having a mime type of "audio/mpeg". Obviously this is incorrect, but why is it reported as such? I've cut and paste a few commands below from my shell to illustrate what I'm seeing: black:/media/mildred/music/Tool/10,000 Days$ file -i *

Impossible to IPfilter this?
Hi! I'm trying to increase security on my FreeBSD 4.8 firewall/DSL router/VPN router. My problem is with firewalling the VPN part. I'm using a tunnel to a RedHat 7.1 box running FreeS/WAN. This tunnel allows traffic from my internal net (172.17.0.0/24) to that box only: spdadd 172.17.0.0/24 $REDHAT/32 any -P out ipsec esp/tunnel/$MYADDR-$REDHAT/unique; spdadd $REDHAT/32 172.17.0.0/24

fitted probabilities in multinomial logistic regression are identical for each level
I was hoping for some advice regarding possible explanations for the fitted probability values I obtained for a multinomial logistic regression. The analysis aims to predict whether Capgras delusions (present/absent) are associated with group (ABH, SV, homicide; values = 1,2,3,), controlling for previous violence. What has me puzzled is that for each combination the fitted probabilities are

File Extension .OGG
Hi, I've already sent this to feedback@vorbis.com, but I got no response and this might be more correctly placed here anyway, so here is a revised vesrion. I have one thing to criticize, which is the file extension *.OGG. It's ambigous (the Netrek meaning) and using it for both video and audio seems confusing. Plus, there are a lot of OGG files floating around that are generated by
