flac123 revival
Hello Dan Johnson, hello list, It's really weird that there's no working command line player for FLAC files. Dan Johnson created flac123 (licensed under the GPL) to fill that gap, and started the flac-tools project. Unfortunately, flac123 doesn't work anymore with the latest FLAC, and the flac-tools project has been idle for more than a year. I created a patch that makes flac123

building CVS flac
Josh, I'm trying to build CVS flac-1.1.1 in order to make sure flac123 will work with it. I'm having a hard time getting autogen.sh's aclocal to work with configure.in. I'm using autoconf-2.59 (from source) on Redhat 9.0. I have found automake-1.7.8 and automake-1.8.5 yield similar results: $ ./autogen.sh aclocal: configure.in: 142: macro `AM_PROG_LIBTOOL' not found in

Problems with gain
Hello. I have a problem here with replay gain. I use it to be able to hear all my music without any difference in volume. But it seems that all players I use ignore the gain value stored in my flac files. All flacs are louder than the gained mp3s I have. $ metaflac --show-tag=REPLAYGAIN_ALBUM_GAIN <some>.flac REPLAYGAIN_ALBUM_GAIN=-9.96 dB $ metaflac --show-tag=REPLAYGAIN_TRACK_GAIN

strange deadlock and magic resurrection with RELENG_6
Hi, I'm using a recent RELENG_6 under I386/SMP (Athlon X2 4800+). dmesg output is under http://people.freebsd.org/~mr/dmesg.log.gz Root is on gmirror volume (2 SATA disks), a backup FS is on graid3 (5 firewire disks). This server acts as an bacula server. During backup with bacula I discovered an complete system freeze (no keyboard, nfs, disk...) after the following lines on the screen: ...

wav to flac corruption
Matthew, I don't think I can answer your entire question, but I will list a few pieces of information. 1) I regularly convert very large AIFF files, up to 4 GB, using flac. I sometimes work with WAV, and that seems to work, too. On my Mac, I can play flac files just fine in Play.app, VLC, and my own software. 2) What do you mean the flac "files do not work"? You mean

[Flac-users] Problems with configure
I compiled flac today and at first I didn't succeed very well. The binary was built and all, but each time I tried encode a wav-file, the only result was: > flac 1.0.4, Copyright (C) 2000,2001,2002 Josh Coalson > flac comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY. Came across another error that might help! Nic Win98
Hello, I read your post on zytor.com, and I am not sure if you are still looking for a way to boot win98 on a cd with your Nic, but, It is possible, I have done it, I am sure you have realized that instructions on how to build a floppy booting win98 disk doesnt really benifit anything being that the Nic's have no HD, but A combo of a bootable cd, xmsds or ramdisk (writeable area) and a

wav to flac corruption
Thank you for the reply! I know that my system can play flac files, I've played others I've managed to convert using both of those programs. I'm only running into difficulty when it comes to these large WAV files. By "Does not work" I mean that they do not play, and instead I receive the errors I mentioned in my original post. I wasn't actually intending to use

And more info... Screen capture of the WAV file's hex. This tells me little, but maybe someone out there knows more about this than me. http://img139.imageshack.us/my.php?image=screenshot251awavghexnd1.png Thanks again, Matthew On Feb 6, 2008 12:18 PM, Matthew Davis <zasdarq@gmail.com> wrote: > Came across another error that might help! wav to flac corruption
Hello, I'm attempting to convert fairly large WAV files (90 - 800 MB each) using flac but the files do not work after the encoding. (The play fine in wav format) Command I'm using: flac --verify -8 file.wav Attempting to run the file with either flac123 or the default player for Ubuntu (Movie Player?) results in the extremely terse messages: Default Player: "An Error Occurred:

Asterisk MOH playing old audio for first 30 to 60 seconds
Calling all members of the asterisk community, I am posting about an old issue that has been reported many places and times online, To my amazement, there has yet to be anyone that has reported any solutions to the following problem. "Initially when putting callers on hold, it plays between 30 and 60 seconds of old audio that was on the stream in the past. Then after that 30-60 seconds, it

rsync'd destination much larger than source
Hello. Recently, I started using rsync to backup files in my root partition on an Ensim box over to a remote machine. The remote machine 'pulls' from the Ensim box using the following: rsync -arvzx --exclude=/proc --exclude=/tmp --exclude=/mnt --delete --delete-excluded -e ssh 192.168.0.1:/ /bkup/rootpart/ The problem is, if I 'df' the Ensim box, it reports that the entire

[Flac-users] Stuttering over NFS & Samba
I've got an Allwell set-top box (http://www.gctglobal.com/Products/Set_Top_Box/set_top_box_0.html) connected to my entertainment center (stereo + TV) running a 2.4.17 kernel. I'm eagerly looking forward to running Boss Ogg (http://bossogg.sourceforge.net/) on it to play my music collection encoded in FLAC. None of my music files are on the set-top box, they're all on a server

Stereoscopic 3D in Wine?
When you play a "nomal 3D" game, whether it be Halo One or Skyrim, all the data needed to make a truly 3D experience is there, it's just that only one eye's viewpoint is rendered and sent to the screen. There's this free download called the IZ3D 'driver' which has a free anaglyph mode. (Anaglyph means the two-color method to producing true 3D, in this case red-cyan.)

Decoding Type=Independent
Hello, I am new to the list, to FLAC and to FLAC development but I am having a problem in trying to make FLAC work with MediaMVP based the mvpmc project (ref. http://www.wvpmc.org) that hopefully someone can help me with. This device is possibly minimum spec. for a FLAC decoder. In any case, I have had some success cross-compiling libFLAC (without the ogg or metadata modules).for the embedded

Standard Open Source Bug detected, try murksaround ...
When using the abx utility that is in LAME's misc dir, trying it on an ogg (with ogg123) gives the following output: Standard Open Source Bug detected, try murksaround ... (ogg123 is decoding to stdout) IIRC this also happened with older mpg123's but no longer with the latest release. Latest ogg123 from CVS still gives it though. Someone stole code but forgot to check for fixes? :)
