[st.n@gmx.net: Bug#200435: xmms-flac: doesn't properly support long files]
severity 200435 normal
thanks
I received this bug report from a Debian user. I can't think of any reason
offhand why the command line tool would work while the xmms plugin would
fail.

SHN
I am interetsed to know views on how does best quality ogg compression compare
with SHN or whether this is this really comparing apples with oranges because
SHN does not compress that greatly?
I am on a Music list that is doing a Tape Tree. I guess Grateful dead have
made SHN the cult leader format.

Latest Flac license thinking?
A while back Josh was thinking of changing the Flac license, and posted a
question on Slashdot regarding various licensing schemes.
Josh, have you come to any conclusions about future licensing of Flac?

Should FLAC join Xiph?
That is the question I put before you all tonight :)
(Short background, Xiph is the corp behind Vorbis and Ogg,
among other things; see http://xiph.org/about.html . I
think Emmett is here now so correct any of this if it's
wrong.)
I've been talking a little with Emmett Plant and Monty about
this. If it were to happen, it would mean the following:
1. FLAC would benefit from the

Web site not responding with Firefox 52.6.0 (64-bit)
I don't know if this is a CentOS7/Firefox problem or one with the distant
web site slashdot.org. I can connect to it just fine with the latest
Firefox on my Windows 10 desktop PC, but not with Firefox 52.6.0 on this
CentOS 7.4 laptop. This has been an on-going problem for several weeks.
Google search results are sketchy. slashdot.org may have been a DDOS
target today, but as I write this

Problem using Feedtools on my Rails project!
Hi
I''m trying to setup my app to use Feedtools amazing RSS powers, but it
fails miserably on the following line:

AM_MAINTAINER_MODE
The rules that automake uses to automatically run autoconf/automake/etc. are
handy for development, but the have a way of screwing up automated builds.
AM_MAINTAINER_MODE disables this behaviour by default, but allows for it to
be enabled for development at configure time. How would you feel about
this?

firefox slow on 5.6
I have updated to 5.6 - GREAT job guys...
when I do "host slashdot.org" for example it comes back immediately.
when I enter slashdot.org on firefox it says "Looking up slashdot.org"
for a LONG time like 15 or 20 seconds
before continuing.
I have set network.dns.disableIPv6 true.
Any idea why firefox is so slow?

Linux malware attack
SlashDot had an article today on a Linux server malware attack,
<http://it.slashdot.org/story/14/03/18/2218237/malware-attack-infected-25000-linuxunix-servers>.
I wonder if there is a simple test to see if a CentOS machine
has been infected in this way?
The article mentions Yara and Snort rules to test for this,
but I wonder if there is something simpler?
Alternatively, are there Yara or

[lamont+buildd@hp.com: Bug#162718: flac_1.0.4-1(hppa/unstable): FTBFS: non-PIC code in shared object]
It looks like libplugin_common.a is being linked into the shared object
libxmms-flac.so. In that case, all of the objects in libplugin_common.a
must be compiled with -fPIC.
