Samba 2.2.3a + WinXP
Habe Samba 2.2.3a unter HP-UX 10.20 laufen.
(letzte Version die ich f?r 10.20 finden konnte)
Bisher lief alles bestens.
Danke Andi

unexpected local minima/maxima with surf.gls
Hi there,
I use the surf.gls() function to fit a variable measured over a surface. When I plot the predicted surface, there are local minima/maxima in almost every coordinate where data were measured, which seems aberrant. For instance:
?? x <- c(343,293,343,243,293,343,443,543,593,243,293,343,393,443,493,543,593,143,193,243,293,343,393,443,

Usb surf stick for internet
Hello,
I am searching for an internet usb surf-stick (umts) that works under
CentOS. Is anyone using such a stick and if so, which chip has this
usb-stick?
Would a Huawei E160E chip work under CentOS? Or maybe under CentOS with
the 2.6.35 kernel from elrepo?
Thank you very much!
regards

Spatial Statistics: surf.gls
In an experimental setup we obtain z-data samples at equidistant grid points.
The surf.gls (Kriging) algorithm produces an error under this circumstance when performing the Choleski decomposition.
A workaround is to dither the grid coordinates using (x <- rnorm(length(x)) ; y<- rnowm(length(y))).
Question: Is this an expected behaviour of the surf.gls function ?

Berthold

extractAIC using surf.ls
Although the 'spatial' documentation doesn't mention that extractAIC
works, it does seem to give an output.
I may have misunderstood, but shouldn't the following give at least
the same d.f.?
> library(spatial)
> data(topo, package="MASS")
> extractAIC(surf.ls(2, topo))
[1] 46.0000 437.5059
> extractAIC(lm(z ~ x+I(x^2)+y+I(y^2)+x:y, topo))

error with surf.ls in spatial
Hello R users,
Can someone point me to a solution to the problem below? The surf.ls()
call works fine in other contexts, e.g. the example in help(surf.ls). I'm
using R 1.3.1, and get the same error regardless of the platform (debian
Linux, MS Windows 98).
Many thanks,
Stewart

CentOS 4.2 Install - Can't Surf Web
I just installed CentOS 4.2 on a system that was running RedHat 9.
Now the browser (Mozilla Firefox) can't connect to web sites via their name
(www.google.com <http://www.google.com/> ).
It can however connect if the IP address is used (66.102.7.147).
Also the 'dig' command times out with either the name or the IP address.
Has anyone else seen this?
Any pointers would be

[RFC/PATCH 06/15] kvm-s390: sie intercept handling
From: Carsten Otte <cotte at de.ibm.com>
From: Christian Borntraeger <borntraeger at de.ibm.com>
This path introduces handling of sie intercepts in three flavors: Intercepts
are either handled completely in-kernel by kvm_handle_sie_intercept(),
or passed to userspace with corresponding data in struct kvm_run in case
kvm_handle_sie_intercept() returns -ENOTSUPP.

surf.ls
Hello,
I am looking into description of surf.ls(spatial)
and see under value $beta - the coefficients.
When I use polynomial of degree 2 to fit surface
I expect to get 4 coefficients:
z = a_1 x^2 + a_2 xy + a_3 y^2 + a_4
What do beta really stand for and why do I get
$beta vector of length 6?

gam and ordination (vegan and labdsv surf and ordisurf)
I have a general question about using thin plate splines in the surf
and ordisurf routines. My rudimentary knowledge of a gam is that with
each predictive variable there is a different smooth for each one and
then they are added together with no real interaction term (because
they don't handle this well?). Now, If I have two variables that
have a high D^2 score and a low GCV score (I am

How to generate a list of lists recursively (for bayesm)
Dear all,
I need to generate a list of lists as required by the bayesm-package. This means in my application that I have to generate a list which consists of 2000 elements, which are lists themselves:
list(list(y1,X1),...,list(y2000,X2000)).
The y are vectors and the X are matrices of different dimensions. I tried to solve this problem iteratively by the following code, but received an error

Sorry that I wrote in german :
Ich benutze asterisk mit dem zaphfc Treiber.
Jetzt hab ich folgendes Problem, habe 2 ISDN-Telefone angeschlossen.
zaphfc im nt-mode.
Anrufe von ausserhalb per sip (sipgate.de) kommen an.
Wenn ich aber intern zwischen den zwei Telefonen (Ascom Eurit 30) sprechen
m?chte geht das nur wie folgt :
Erst die Nebenstelle w?hlen und dann den H?rer am Telefon abnehmen.

Hi,
I downloaded RWeka successfully. (At least I do not see, where I could have made a mistake.) Then I tried to load it by the library-command. To my surprise this did not work. Result:
