packaging flac for debian
The users of debian have been without high quality lossless audio
compression too long, I say. I am therefore packaging flac for debian.
Having your program debian packaged is a great new source of bug reports
(both forwarded from me where appropriate and sent in directly from
misguided users when I screw up :), so I thought I'd say hello now.
Also, I haven't packaged a library before,

nonlinear fitting documentation error (PR#9749)
Full_Name: Britton Kerin
Version: docs on web
OS: linux
Submission from: (NULL) (216.67.49.115)
This section from the introduction to R confused me (reason below):
11.7.1 Least squares
One way to fit a nonlinear model is by minimizing the sum of the squared
errors
(SSE) or residuals. This method makes sense if the observed errors could have
plausibly arisen from a normal

Samba 3.0.0 beta2 Aurora SPARC Linux rpm binary
I have taken your samba-3.0.0beta2-1.src.rpm, added a little sparc thingy tp
the spec file, and made a "new" src.rpm, and a sparc binary rpm. NTW, Aurora
SPARC Linux is based on Red Hat Linux, currently ansel release on 7.3 and a
work-in-progress on 9, see auroralinux.org.
If you want them, how do I upload them?
Cheers,

[RFC] NEC SX-Aurora VE backend
Hello,
we’d like to propose the integration of a new backend into LLVM: NEC
SX-Aurora TSUBASA Vector Engine (VE). We hope to get some feedback here
and at EuroLLVM about the path and proper procedure of merging.
The SX-Aurora VE is a Vector CPU on an PCI-E Accelerator card. It has
48GB memory from six HBM2 stacks, accessible with 1.2TB/s bandwidth, 8
cores with vector and scalar units, each.

packaging flac for debian
Hmm, I wonder how the package search I originally did for it failed. I
guess I have a couple wnpp bugs close, but no other work wasted.

problems with flac
Hello, I am having some problems with flac. I remember using an older
version a year or so ago and I don't remember having any problems.
1.) When I encode a raw file and then decode it to raw, it seems to add 12
bytes of nulls (this may not always be just nulls, i have only tested on one
file and it starts with nulls anyway)
2.) When I try to encode a WAV and then decode it, it fails at

Rails plugins new official maintainers
Hey guys,
This is the final list of the new maintainers of each plugin.
We need two more things to do:
First please the owners of the repos add the rest of the maintainers.
Second I will add a note on each rails/plugin mentioning this repos updates.
So from now on, if someone else is interested in helping/contributing
please send a message to the appropriate repo owner.

dropping factor levels in subset
Dear all,
I've taken a subset of data from a data frame using
crb<-subset(all.raw, creek %in% c("CR") & year %in% c(2000,2001) & substrate
%in% ("b"))
this works fine, except that all of the original factor levels are
maintained. This results in NA's for these empty levels when I try to do
summaries based on factors using by(). Is there a simple way to drop

Help !
Hi Guys,
Had a samba server up and running on a sparc running 2.6. All was well with
the world then I had to move it to another subnet. Since then I have not
been able to connect or see it in the browser list and keep seeing the
following error in smb.log which I can't find an answer to.
The error is ERROR: root did not create the semaphore

new --sector-align option
I'll be checking in code for a new option tonight. Using
--sector-align when encoding a group of WAVE files will
cause the encoder to align each file to a CD sector
boundary before encoding. A CD sector is 588 samples and
the option only works for WAVE data with a sample rate of
44100 Hz and 2 channels.
The alignment is always backwards from the original
breakpoint. In other words, if the

Round 2 - Guest Share on WXP Host
Thanks to everyone who has tried to help so far. Not quite there but I
think I'm close. For anyone new, it's a private 2 comp network (RH9 and
WXP) so I just want the simplest guest access possible.
This is my current smb.conf file:

workgroup = SAMBA
encrypt passwords = yes

interpreted in the timwzonw give by the '"tzone"' attribute it

always used the current timezone.)"
however I am using 2.9.0 on linux and the following still happily

RH9/W2K Networking
Hi,
I've searched for days to find some step by step instructions but
haven't found anything that seems to work.
I have two boxes:
Red Hat 9 with a net connection
Win2K with a CD-ROM drive
Both have working Realtek 10/100 NICs with just a cable connecting them
directly (no switch/hub/etc).
I want to be able to access the net from my win2k machine and access the
cd-rom from my Red

3.53-pre5 released - release candidate
Hi all,
I have received a fair number of bug reports over the last few weeks
-- even days -- and I am therefore declaring 3.53-pre5 a release
candidate for a 3.53 bug fix release.
This 3.53 will not contain either of the two major features under
development -- client side state (including boot-once) and gPXE
integration -- since I want to avoid destabilizing the code base beyond
the bug
