Josh Coalson, you rock!
Me too! Flac is one of the most stable, polished, and useful open-source tools I've used. Many thanks! FLAC 1.0 Debian packages available
I just uploaded flac 1.0-1 to Debian unstable; it should appear in the archives tomorrow. Allwell doesn't respond to OACK with ACK in TFTP
I'm trying to network-boot a GCT Allwell set-top box without success. My frustration level is high. The problem seems to be that the Allwell is sending a RRQ with an option. tftp-hpa responds with an OACK, and waits for the corresponding ACK from the Allwell. The Allwell never sends that ACK, but instead continues with the same RRQ until timeout. Having read RFC1782, this makes me think

3com mba 4.30 problem
Hello All, I seem to be having a problem with PXE under the 3com MBA once the pxe loads the standard redhat 7.2 lilo prompt and I type my label which is a4-72 and hit enter, I get: Loading vmlinuz... and it stops most of the time. Sometimes it loads and once it gets to the part of installing linux the screen turns red and I get "interrupt handler not syncing" Thanks -- Otis DeWitt -

[Flac-users] Stuttering over NFS & Samba
I've got an Allwell set-top box (http://www.gctglobal.com/Products/Set_Top_Box/set_top_box_0.html) connected to my entertainment center (stereo + TV) running a 2.4.17 kernel. I'm eagerly looking forward to running Boss Ogg (http://bossogg.sourceforge.net/) on it to play my music collection encoded in FLAC. None of my music files are on the set-top box, they're all on a server

How can I run a function to a piece of text?
Dear users, I got really stuck trying to apply a function to a piece of code that I created using different string functions. To make things really easy, this is a wee example: x<-c(1:10) script<-"x, trim = 0, na.rm = FALSE" ##script created by a number of paste() and rep() steps mean(script) ##function that I want to apply:

MailScanner With One vs Two Postfix Instances
An interesting point came up while recently discussing my Postfix virtual_alias issues with the MailScanner list. Apparently there is some risk with the "two instances of postfix" approach described in: http://www.hughesjr.com/content/view/12/30/Guides It sounds like Postfix and MailScanner can step on each other in the deferred queue. They recommended the single Postfix instance

packet rate limiting
Hi, I''m currently looking for a QoS extension that allows to limit the packet rate to a given value. As I''m using HTB at the moment bandwidth limiting works pretty well but packet rate limiting would be superb. I do traffic shaping on a firewalling bridge (2.4.21) using iptables mark and HTB. Any suggestions would be appriciated! Regards, Mike -- COMPUTERBILD 15/03:

choppy and cracking sound from zyxel prestige 2002
Hi, Does anyone have suggestions hooking Zyxel Prestige 2002 to Asterisk? I have tested Zyxel Prestige with both supported codecs. Call with G.711 sounds very choppy and cracking. Almost can't understand a word. Today I installed G.729 support into Asterisk but unbearable voice quality remains. It's a little bit better though. I have tested that Zyxel ATA with some commercial SIP

Outgoing calls via Sipgate

My whole working (incoming calls only) SIPgate configuration can be found here. [1] When I uncommon what's in there, nothing works. There doesn't appear to be any useful error being logged , even when debug is

is there a way to outsource image uploads?
I''m trying to keep my rails app lean and mean and want to avoid (if possible) dealing with image uploads, thumbnail generation, running RMagick etc. I was excited about Amazon letting you upload files directly from the browser to your S3 bucket (http://doc.s3.amazonaws.com/proposals/ post.html) but I couldn''t figure out how to generate thumbnails - has anyone figured this out?

External Devices
Hi, I'm new to the list, and would like to make a contribution to nut. Nut does a superb job of monitoring the UPS(s) that power servers, but your server may want to monitor other UPSs as well. You may have a SAN attached disk array and want to monitor its UPS(s) in order to shutdown yourself before the disk dies and you lose data. There may be other devices as well that would cause you

re: Spatial stats: R vs. Splus
Hello, Could someone tell me whether the spatial statistics module of Splus is worth the rather high price, or whether one could (with reasonable effort) carry out the same things using R and some of its contributed packages. Although we do have Splus (Windows and Unix), we definitely prefer to use R whenever feasible (both for research and teaching). Thanks for developing a superb
