Opus for audiobooks etc
I know the focus for Opus is low delay, but I've been watching its development with interest because of the potential for audiobook/podcast use, where latency is practically irrelevant. I hear the upcoming USAC codec will give good results for this niche (though listening test results don't seem to be available to the public yet), but I also hear it'll be extremely patent

Question on opus_decoder output sampling rate
Hi, another question on the same topic Speex resampler at 44.1kHz seems to be very CPU intensive on Android (even more than the Opus encoder) While Speex at 48kHz is just fine. I wonder any alternate solutions or ideas ? Improve it, look for alternate solution ... I am guessing the NEON optimization are still used for both, etc. On Thu, Apr 2, 2015 at 4:46 PM, Jean-Marc Valin <jmvalin at

[PATCH] Updating the ReplayGain documentation
In this topic on Hydrogen Audio(http://www.hydrogenaud.io/forums/index.php?showtopic=105586) someone asked a question about the sample rates that FLAC supports for ReplayGain. The outcome was that the current documentation of MetaFLAC is outdated since Commit http://git.xiph.org/?p=flac.git;a=commit;h=0554a4aee6966bc5b251364753ef85de72dfab19 because as of 1.3.0 FLAC supports Replaygain with many

Question on opus_decoder output sampling rate
Hi, is there any way to tell the decoder the output sampling Fz we want ? opus_decoder_create = Sampling rate of input signal (Hz) Considering this example (VoIP-out from WebRTC/RTP) MICROPHONE(44.1/48kHz) >> [encoder created at 48kHz but with internalSampleRate set to 8kHz]>> INTERNET >> [decoder(created with 48kHz)] >> 48kHz(?) >> G.711(8kHz) This leaves us with

Higher quality narrowband streaming options
Hi, Up until now, I've been providing narrowband streams at 24kbps MP3. We've reluctantly been using MP3 instead of say Ogg Vorbis due to wider support. But it's getting to the point where low bitrate MP3 doesn't really cut it anymore. With technologies like AACPlus out there in common usage, people have come to expect better and one can hardly blame them. So I thought

if i do an rsync to the current directory, how come the parent directory isn't created? I normally just get my files spewed into the current directory, eventhough I am trying to transfer a directory. Something like this rsync -avp host::module/ . -- Jason G Helfman Network Administrator

mount fallback 0 || no streams found
hello, I'm doing something wrong here, but I can't find what I need to do right. If I set the mount fallback to "0", no stream is found eventhough there maybe one or even two sources in icecast. What do I need to set/add so I don't need the mount fallback? Using: ices-0.2.2 icecast 1.3.11 on 2.4.9 thanks, t. --- >8 ---- List archives:

Repeating grey scale in graph?
Dear R users, Could somebody tell me why the grey color ramp is repeated in this graph, eventhough the ramp values go from 0 to 1? I must be missing something obvious, but I can not see it! z <- c(0.064329041,0.117243316,0.161565116,0.19923015,0.231642175,0.259835539,0.284571226, 0.038507288,0.094184749,0.140959431,0.180803984,0.215159105,0.245096084,0.271412845,

added background noise problem?
I'm using 22khz wavs because 16khz doesn't provide the quality i need in the original wavs. I can't get 32khz wavs because that part of the project is finished and not redoable. The .spx's don't have to be as high quality, so i guess i could convert them to 16khz. I was trying 17kbps, ultra-wideband, and VBR.

[LLVMdev] Cloning BasicBlock
Hi , I am trying to clone a BasicBlock. I want both to co-exist and I have introduced a conditional branch to the original or the cloned BB. I tried mapping the original instruction and the clone as below : Instruction *NewInst = II->clone(); if (II->hasName()) NewInst->setName(II->getName()); NewBB->getInstList().push_back(NewInst); ValueMap[II] =

added background noise problem?
Using narrow, wideband, and ultra-wideband encoding on a short 16khz wav gave .spx's of 3,789 ... 2,935 ... and 1,875 bytes. Even after reading the manual, smaller files for the higher frequency encoding seems counter-intuitive. My mp3 at 32 kbps on the original 22khz wav is 3,866 with a quality comparable to speex wideband on the converted 16khz wav, so speex is a 24% improvement in size.

Hi, I am the current webmaster at WUML (www.wuml.org) a college radio station. We are looking to purchase a new web cast server which we are planning will run IceCast, but it is a little unclear on the system requirements that IceCast requires. I read somewhere that IceCast can run on as little as a 486 with 32mb of ram but that sounded like those specs were for streaming mp3s saved on that
