Are those file and folder ACLs to be expected?
Greetings Rowland.
The NAS we have does not allow SSH connections, only a web interface for
management and therefore I'm unable to provide the conf file.
The group "users" is actually named "artists" and it's created by me. I
needed a group with a simpler name.
The version of Samba is 4.10.4.
Let me know if there's anything else I can provide and could be of help.

unix_primary_group = yes don t work
Hi,
On a samba 4.9.4 fileserver using ad backend with rfc2307 , when i
create a file from a Win10 client, it s always created with the rights
user:"domain users".
I ve understood that with "unix_primary_group = yes" , the file should
be created with the rights user:gidNumber .
Here is my config :

Shared drives not writeable
I am running Samba 3.6.6 on a Ubuntu 12.10 Samba domain member server.
Users are authenticated against a Samba DC running 3.6.9 over an LDAP
backend. I have a share configured as show below. Members of the
'staff-faculty' group can browse the share, but cannot write files to
any subdir for which they are not the owner. It appears that the only
reason they can read/traverse is because of

State of Gluster 3.4 alpha 3 NFS ACL support
Wonder if someone can point me in the right direction here - just
built some new bricks running gluster 3.4 alpha 3 (from
http://download.gluster.org) with the objective of testing them to
replace some existing 3.2 systems in production.
The main thing I was after was NFS ACL support, however on getting
everything setup, I still don't seem to be able to see POSIX extended

Can't create/update Group Policy in Samba 4.6.5
Hai,
In reponse to the why i recommend that.
Since this is a "windows" only share, i recomment to set it up for that usage, with results in better matching for windows rights.
Resulting in better working policies.
The current POSIX rights did not match to my needs and resulted in inconsistant policies.
This is why i use these for profiles and sysvol.
And this is my setup order:

Samba4 - ACL not applied/followed (worked in samba 3.0.11)
Hi.
samba 4.1.1.. User has unix rights for writing, but samba denies write
access to him.
On samba server:

groups=20(users-nis),2108(evis),2109(slp),2112(hernie),2126(poj),2133(hto),20000(users)
-> user amistest is in "poj" group

Fix sharing ACL
Dear Rowland,
I changed smb.conf as its tip.
I had already read about the ACL's Windows and Posix.
Even changing the smb.conf and using the ACL methods, I still do not write access to the folder.
Example:
# mkdir /mnt/data/teste1
# ls -all /mnt/data/teste1
total 12

Bug? "inherit acls" not working as expected
Hello
I'm running Debian Etch with distro kernel & Samba package (2.6.18-5-686
& 3.0.24-6etch9).
In my smb.conf I have :
inherit owner = yes
inherit permissions = yes
inherit acls = yes
I start with a dir test1 with no rights for group smb-Users, rx for
group smb-Inf, and rwx for group smb-Bme-Fr :

[acl] setting user/group permissions from windows
Hello,
I've setup a samba PDC (3.0.31) and I am using Windows Vista clients.
Logging on works fine using roaming profiles and folder redirections.
I am also able to write to shares, etc.
Now I am trying to get the advanced permissions on files to work. So
on my share:
[share]
comment = Shared directories
path = /samba/share
read only = No
guest ok = Yes

Weird permissions issues with samba shares and XFS
Hi,
We are trying to deploy samba sharing on Centos 7.4, linked to windows 2016
AD for authentication.
We are having an issue related to permissions where different directories
with seemingly the exact same permissions cannot all be accessed from
smbclient. I was hoping somebody could help me figuring this out.
We have the following structure:
1. one LVM2 volume on /dev/storage/test (XFS)

Fix sharing ACL
Gentlemen,
I am struggling to solve this problem.
My file server Samba 4.4.5.
Even the administrator user (domain admin) could not write to the share.
Could someone give me a hint, in order to solve this problem?
