Duplicate Sambawiki??
I hope you "pushed the info upstairs". Can you say plagiarism? Proper manner to join second DC
In re-reading the "Joining_a_Samba_DC_to_an_Existing_Active_Directory" Sambawiki page. Is it no longer necessary to manually delete all *.tdb and *.ldb database files from the soon to be joined (second) DC prior to joining? Are these database file deletions NOW "handled" by any one of the "three authentication methods you can use" to join the second DC? (With

As a fourth option, I wonder if the first author could fork the package? Presumably, appropriately cited, a fork is permitted by the license under which it was released. Then the original package, by both authors, still exists (and a final version could point to the new one) and the new package, citing the previous version appropriately, is by a single author. WINS not caching second Samba Server
Background: I have 2 SMB Servers; one is configured to be the Preferred Master (fserver), the other (upstairs) is configured to just share some files. I want it to connect and update the WINS configuration on the Preferred Master. Configuration files for both servers are attached. Also worth mentioning that both the 'fserver' and 'upstairs' reside on the same network. Some

Music on hold, Call Parking, etc
Ok, this falls under the newbie category: Has anybody created any documentation on using musiconhold or call parking? I have found sample config files for musiconhold, but I'm not sure how they work. [musiconhold.conf] [classes] loud=>mp3:/var/lib/asteriks/mohmp3 How do I then set up this feature in extensions.conf? I can't seem to find an example of what I'm looking for (or I

Ubdate Samba 4 from 4.1.11 to 4.9.3
Join new DC (from virtual machine) https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Joining_a_Samba_DC_to_an_Existing_Active_Directory (or 2. from 2 vm!) with bind/dhcp/.. Then demote old DC https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Demoting_a_Samba_AD_DC and install (clean) 4.9.3, then join it again, demote vm,.. 01.12.2018 0:40, Igor Sousa via samba пишет: > I've tried use samba-tool domain backup, but the

BIND9 failing
I am working towards joining my second DC to the first. If I am understanding: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Joining_a_Samba_DC_to_an_Existing_Active_Directory correctly I am to get bind9 working properly before the join should happen. I am getting this: > root at dc2:~# systemctl status bind9 > > ? bind9.service - BIND Domain Name Server > > Loaded: loaded

Ubdate Samba 4 from 4.1.11 to 4.9.3
Hi, Currently, we have at my job a Samba 4 AD DC with 2 DC are running over Samba 4.1.11 version. I know both servers are out date. I want to update this version to the latest version (4.9.3), but I'm not confident about the process to do it. I've read on wiki.samba.org that is recommended read all release notes to version x.x.0 and all release notes the latest version you pretend update

Questions about adding a DC
Hi, In reading https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Joining_a_Samba_DC_to_an_Existing_Active_Directory#Joining_the_Active_Directory_as_a_Domain_Controller it says "If the other DCs are Samba DCs and were provisioned with --use-rfc2307, you Should add --option='idmap_ldb:use rfc2307 = yes' to the join command" So does this mean that rfc2307 should not be used if the other DCs are MS

UK FXO hangup detection with a twist
Hi, The twist? We actually have far-end hangup detection working fine, and that seems to be where the problem lies for most people. Our problem seems to be with requesting a hangup from our end reliably. If we originate the call, we can hang it up. This suggests to me that the Sangoma A200D is sending the correct hangup signaling. This way round, it is 100% reliable. If we accept a call

Trouble running 'alsamixer' as normal user on headless box with minimal system
Hi, I just transformed an old Pentium III 500 into a headless jukebox. It's installed in the basement, near the stereo. There's only a base CentOS system on it (GNOME unchecked, package customization checked and then everything unchecked). From there on, I just installed the ALSA utils, and vorbis-tools. The machine is only supposed to do one thing (and to do it well, UNIX philosophy

authorship and citation
Dear R developers, This is a rather peculiar question, but nevertheless I would still need an answer for. It is about an R package which I created (namely QCA), and from versions 1.0-0 to 1.1-4 I had a co-author. The co-author recently withdrawn from the package development, but still requires to be left in the authors list and be cited for the package in the CITATION file. Obviously, one could

setting up W7 profiles
I am setting up W7 profiles following the "Samba & Windows Profiles" on the Sambawiki. If it matters, I have two functional DC's and one member server. When I run '# chmod 1770 /srv/samba/profiles' (on the member server) the permissions changed to: root at mbr01:~# ls -alh /srv/samba/profiles total 12K drwxrwx--T+ 2 root root 4.0K Mar 1 10:21 . drwxr-xr-t 5 root

I have an issue that "getent passwd SAMDOM\usrname" returns a blank response. Running "getent passwd" returns all the local users. I cannot determine if the libnss-winbind symbolic links exist. This is a member server running Debian 10 with Samba v4.12.5 via Louis' repos. The Sambawiki /Libnss winbind Links/ page shows Debian x86_64 source location as

Sysvol replication between DC
Hi, I have followed the guidelines outlined in the article: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Joining_a_Samba_DC_to_an_Existing_Active_Directory#Built-in_User_.26_Group_ID_Mappings . I had a doubt: When I ran the tdbbackup -s .bak command idmap.ldb which is 2MB generated a 720k-sized idmap.ldb.bak file. I have stopped the samba service on CD 2, replaced the idmap.ldb file with idmap.ldb.bak,
