Upgrading from standard to Louis' repo
This is a FYI email. I had built a Debian 10.4 (Buster) DC with standard Samba package 4.9.5 (current version offered from Debian repos.) Backed up what I had so far (functional DC.) I had setup Samba v4.9.5 following Louis' instruction. Added Louis' repo and ran 'apt update'. Louis' repo was on the list. Ran 'apt dist-upgrade' and rebooted. Ran bind9 tests,

Debian Buster, bind_dlz, and apparmor
Hai,  Normaly i kick in sooner but im in bed fit by flu. :-(  You have to add the bind paths to the apparmor profile, or disable apparmor in total, just dont remove it, should work also. debian wiki or ubuntu wiki shows how.  But why are you using buster, imo really not safe,  if you wany a 4.7 for stretch use my apt. When im better i can have a look into your problem more closely. greetz

Debian Buster Samba 4.13 online (amd64/i386/armhf )
Hai, ? Debian Buster Samba 4.13 is now online on my repo. Info : https://apt.van-belle.nl/ With the release of 4.13 the following changes are going to happen in the repo's. Current (recently sended?list) OS-sambaXXXX with EOL wont be supported anymore, upgrade your OS and/or Samba versions! EOL repo's will stay online for about 6 months, that gives sufficient time to upgrade.

default backend = rid not showing full group information for users
Which Debian version do you use? Because in either version (0 oer 10) in nsswitch.conf is wirtten "files winbind" in Debian 9 it's "compat winbind" and in 10 it's "files systemd winbind" so you removed (I think) systemd maybe you should put it back in Am 01.05.20 um 02:12 schrieb miguel medalha via samba: >> I am trying to use the backend = rid but it

Raspberry Pi Version of Samba?
Everybody, In my case I used a RPi as an additional DC for a month or so while making some Samba4 AD improvements to the main DC's. My main DC's run on some nanopc Intel J1800 (cpu) based fanless (about 5" x 5" x 2") box's that by spec sheet draws a maximum of 15W to run on full load. As a DC they never run on full load. These boxes are actually designed to be run 24/7

This is my print server i started with, why print server, most easy to roll backup. 3 more servers and if im happy, i'll move the packages to the buster-samba412 repo. proxy server next

Debian Buster samba 4.13 updated (amd64/i386/armhf)
Good morning people over the world. :-) I've just uploaded new 4.13 packages. Previous had problems with upgrades due to missing line in the systemd service files. I also enabled profiling data in this version, depending on feedback, i look if its ok to keep it enabled or not. it does come with a small performance cost. So have fun. samba

Good morning Stefan, Hmm, yes, i notice some things also with the debian 9.8 upgrade, that killed my kopano server. Was a long night yesterday. :-( but fixed. Ive done all my servers here and no samba problems. I do know of more problems with docker. There is a small difference, i dont know exact were, but i detected that on the kopano forum. build for ARM (rpi)
Is there a way I could build this package for ARM (Raspberry Pi)? I am using Pidora (Fedora mix for rpi), but can't find the source for this package in any of their repos (http://pidora.ca/pidora/releases/18/packages/source/SRPMS/s/) and tried to build this based on the spec file provided with the sources, but there is an ExclusiveArch statement in that file (ExclusiveArch: i386 i486

Louis' Debian install notes
Louis, Prior to your move over to github I had found a text file of your notes about installing your Samba4 packages on Debian. Basically it was notes about install the required programs from Debian repos and add my (Louis') repository and now install latest samba packages. Yes, I see notes floating around about install onto Ubuntu 18.04LTS but, I am looking for those older Debian notes you

Debian Buster, bind_dlz, and apparmor
Last week, Debian testing (Buster) added apparmor to the list of dependencies for its latest kernel release, apparently because systemd needs it.  Recently, I noticed my first casualty - bind9 - due to apparmor failures with bind_dlz. Here is the initial journalctl results: Nov 23 10:12:12 debpdc named[16080]: starting BIND 9.10.6-Debian <id:9d1ea0b> -f -u bind Nov 23 10:12:12 debpdc
