fresh Sernet 4.1 S4 under debian. ( and use it after )
After a very lot of try (using temporary windows 2003 and 2008 servers
to migrate ) , now I'm facing these multiple problems :
- Bug 9429 – Unable to demote Windows Server

Replace SBS2003 with Samba4
Hello all,
I'm currently investigating the option to completely replace a SBS2003 DC
with a Samba4 DC. My research (mostly on samba.org guides) shows that it is
feasible, however I'd like to get feedback from the community on my goals.
Current status:
A Windows SBS 2003 is the PDC and a W2008 R2 server is acting as secondary
DC. Domain operational level is 2003.
There are ~40-50

samba4: problems setting up win DC
Hi,
I had a simple domain under samba 3.5, but because of our company's
complex structure, management made a call to move to win2k8
infrastructure. And my task is to do this migration seamlessly as possible.
My plan was to upgrade to samba4, then to add win2008 DC, transfer FSMO
roles, then demote samba server and shut it down. However, i run into
some troubles i couldn't solve...

Need advice on upgrading from 4.3.11 to 4.8.3
Hi all,
We have a Samba AD DC service running on Ubuntu 16.0.4 with Samba 4.3.11.
We are planning to upgrade it to a recent version, probably 4.8.3.
I think that I have two options:
a) Package upgrade via 3rd party repositories (Louis Van Belle's repo)
by following wiki.
b) A fresh install of 4.8.3 on another VM then join it to 4.3.11 as backup DC,
then transfer all FSMO roles on new and

Cannot access samba users from Windows Server 2008 r2 trust
Hi,
our setup is
Samba 3.3.12 as the Trusted Domain (Domain name: SAMBA)
Windows 2008r2 as the Trusting Domain (Domain name: W2008)
The trust itself works quite well, users of the SAMBA Domain are able to
log into the workstations of the W2008 domain and even roaming profiles
are working.
However, when I try to configure permissions on a share of the W2008r2
server to users from the SAMBA

How to properly demote a W2003 from Samba4?
Disturbing...
Every where I read I see only 5 roles to transfer in windows 2003 server :
* /transfer PDC/
* /transfer RID master/
* /transfer infrastructure master/
* /transfer naming master/
* /transfer schema master/
How to transfer the 2 other "roles"?
Thanks.

It is possible to login a W2000 workstation into a Samba PDC (version 2.2.6)?
Can I use "logon drive" and "logon home" to mount automatically at login time

samba via ssh; some W2000 do not.
Samba 2.2.8a. Since (Free)Swan flew into ground I've started to use
openssh to connect to the samba server. So far so good, what I do is to
forward 139 and then declare the samba server to be 127.0.0.1 in lmhosts on
the Windows WS. It worked well for all XPs Pro that I have tested but in 2
out of 3 W2000 Pro it did not. That is typing in explorer
\\sambaserver\drive like I do in XP resulted in
